At this ,. <br /> point, Mrs . Day addressed the Committee on several <br /> �r <br /> _.. special education situations prefacing her <br /> overview by saying that a $20 , 000 figure per {i°4 <br /> special education placement is a very conservative <br /> one. Below is a listing of those situations the <br /> School Department has planned for early and their <br /> current status <br /> r <br /> 1. A student was identified early on and placed <br /> in the Collaborative who then roved to California. y <br /> SYS 1 <br /> 2 . A student who had been attending a " <br /> f <br /> ' 1 <br /> r, collaborative program moved to Harwich last fall. <br /> i! <br /> litigation case that was' n-going and moriies <br /> 4 set aside for any possible placement, if deeded. : <br /> However, the case concluded whereby no placement <br /> 1 w <br /> was necessary. lua <br /> '{ Y. 4 . The Special Education Department had been <br /> planning for and working with a placement who has �{ <br /> subsequently been placed in. a faster home in <br /> #- Bourne as part of DSS and DMH processes. The <br /> child was later hospitalized several times then <br /> moved back to Mashpee in the spring and now has <br /> kyr' <br /> been placed. <br /> fY" • <br /> . One child was taken by DS who initially was Nil <br /> ". scheduled to be placed. <br /> h <br /> 6 . <br /> .�ri}ry, T A -year--old child moved into Mahpee who has <br /> autistic-like tendencies and was initially a <br /> :. µ. Collaborative placement, however, after working <br /> ;t <br /> with and getting o know the child, was brought <br /> _ r <br /> into the preschool program. <br /> r7 , A blind child moved to Plymouth. <br /> 8 . Private placement through DSS was found for a <br /> �Y child who had been planning to come back to <br /> Ma.shpee, however, has not at this time, but may <br /> f; #a <br /> later .
