SIJPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING APRIL 71, 1993 PAGE <br /> iGy B <br /> On another note regarding Social Studies , the <br /> Social Studies Curriculum Committee found a need <br /> for a subject dealing with "Massachusetts ' History <br /> and Geography's for Grade Four, After investigating <br /> how much instruction of Massachusetts - is done, i <br /> was found that no formal unit seems to exist. <br /> Thus, the Curriculum Committee asked permission to <br /> apply for a "Coombs Fellow Grant`-. in the amount o <br /> $500 to wort � n this project for Grade 4. Dr. <br /> DeMoura recommended approval. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Dr. Peti, <br /> to apply for the $500 grant. <br /> VOTE:; ]nanimous <br /> Summer Institute - Summer Institute Coordinator, <br /> Michae Forde, gave a progress report on this <br /> upcoming summer program. Programa I , to run from <br /> July 26-August 3 . includes programs such as Army <br /> Corp. of Engineers; and .visits to Power Plant <br /> * Canal Electric; bass. Maritime; wood Hole <br /> F <br /> oceanographic Institute, Aptucxet Trading Post <br /> Museum; Coast Guard Station, CaPe.
