t ,r <br /> i <br /> s <br /> KASHPEE PUBLIC SCHOOLS <br /> SPECIAL MEETING OF APRIL 2*, 1993 1.1 <br /> Minutes <br /> The special meeting of the Mashpee School committee <br /> Call Meeting was called to order by Chairman David Consalvi at <br /> to order p.m. in the Mashpee diddle School Library. <br /> Present - School Committee: David Consalvi, Carole <br /> Dunivan, Maryanne Gibbs, Janice Mills, and Dr. <br /> Elizabeth Petti. <br /> Administration: Dr. Lincoln A. DeMoura. <br /> I. Dr. DeMoura opened the discussion of the FY94 budget <br /> Discussion by saying that should state monies be received, an all- <br /> ofFY94 day kindergarten program could go into effect in <br /> school per- September, These state monies could total approxi- <br /> Budget mately $65,000. In order to start a full-day <br /> kindergarten program, $85 , 000 -would be needed to <br /> provide an adequate amount of services. The other ' <br /> F - <br /> $20,000 would have to be found elsewhere in the <br /> budget <br /> * .e■ 40 <br /> Discussion then followed by the Committee regarding <br /> the Board of Selectmen' s recommendation of $5, 558,000 <br /> and what the impact would be with and without the <br /> a. additional state monies. At the present time, it is <br /> unclear as to whether the Educational Reform Act would <br /> be passed whereby towns would receive $1.00 per child; <br /> if not passed, then $50 per child. <br /> v,. <br /> After much discussion and brainstorming, a motion was <br /> made by Mrs, Dills and seconded by Ms. Gibbs , to <br /> . commit to the Selectmen' s recommendation of $5 ,558 ,000 <br /> *} for FY94, <br /> *�rr <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Dr. Deloura informed the Committee of Article 5 of the <br /> :Other Annual Town Meeting which states that transfers of <br /> money would be made from the Medical Insurance Account <br /> and the Medicare Account "to fund the fringe benefit <br /> } costs of new positions in the School Department for <br /> the ensuing fiscal year- " Dr. DeMoura felt this was <br /> unfair to single out school department employees for <br /> this and would discuss with the Executive Secretary. <br /> .
