Dr. DeMoura said <br /> he would attend. <br /> 8 . 1. 3 Y - As discussed earlier in the meeting, a letter <br /> composed by members the year-round education sub <br /> committee was alluded to by Dr, Petty. . In that hr <br /> letter, it states "The new education reform law <br /> charges the Massachusetts Board of Education with <br /> preparing a comprehensive plan to extend <br /> instructional time for all students to more closely <br /> reflect existing school year models in industrialized <br /> nations. The Board of Education will be assessing .:k <br /> elements of the total school program in formulating ar <br /> design to expand. opportunities for all the <br /> Com omwealthfs students. This plan (and recommended F <br /> legislation) must be filed with the government and <br /> legislature no later than• `anua y 1, 1 9 e <br /> "To avoid a duplication of effort or possible <br /> conflicts with state initiaties, Maspeels year-round {; <br /> effort will therefore be suspended pending the <br /> h <br /> issuance of the proposed legislation. At that point, <br /> f, <br /> we may have the need to discuss as a community the <br /> impact of school year extension in our tow . 11 <br /> 1 <br /> With that in mind, Dr. Petty. made a motion to <br /> eliminate the gear- round education sub-committee from <br /> the agenda. Motion was seconded by Mrs, Mills. <br /> VOTE: In favor - Dr, Petti, Mrs, Mills, Mr. <br /> Consalvi; opposed -- Ms, Gibbs ;. <br /> a <br /> . 2 External Reports <br /> 8. 2 . 1 Cape Cod Collaborative - Mr.�_Consalvi reported that <br /> due to the decline of enrollments and mainstreaming, <br /> the Collaborative will have to cut down on' their <br /> staff .
