With
Public Forum the addition of thirty students, there are less teachers this year and not
enough books for the students to bring home for additional study. Ms.
Grady recommended to review this concern to lower class size to promote
duality education for this grade level and to provide adequate study material.
Kathleen Lee also expressed concern to the size of the 6th grade classes.
With over 30 students per classroom, there is little time for the teacher
to spend with the student~ IVIS.Lee indicated that, there are no late buses
for after school support. The over crowding is not fair to the teachers
nor to the students indicated Ms. Lee.
High class size was also a concem for Maureen Paxton. The teachers
are incredible and we are fortunate to have there, but the high class
size will jeopardize the success of our students, The Middle School
children seem to pay the price for priorities indicated Ms. Paxton.
IVIS.Panton recommended to hire additional teacher assistants to
offset the vales the teachers are currently faced with. Sacnffices should
not be made in one grade to offset another explained Ms. Paxton,
Ms. Paxton recommended to further review fourth grade activities.
The needs of 156 students have not been net with regards to after
school acdvities for this grade level.
Vis. Paxton indicated that a recent Massachusetts Cultural Council
newsletter reported that IViashpee has been awarded a grant to
benefit music and the arts. Mr.Feldman went beyond his job description
to apply for grant funding related Ibis. Paxton. It was noted that only
two Cape Cod disuicts applied for funding.
Deirdre Creel ish recommended the Conunittee re-consider the option of
re-districting and review the overall distribution of the school budget.
The full-time kindergarten program was not weighed against the
consequences as it relates to the other grades noted Mrs. Greelish.
Mrs. Greeli h expressed concern to the size of the 6th grade classes.
If we loose the educational grounding,it is hard to "catch up" and I am
concerned that the children are not getting this indicated Mrs.Greelish.
With regards to'the comments made during Public Forum,Chai
