TOWN OF MA I PFF <br /> PERSONNEL BOARD HEFTING <br /> MINUTES of FEBRUARY 16r 1994 <br /> The following member's of the Personnel Board were present : Robert <br /> Sullivan, Marcia Lindsey, Joseph Dellag4la, and Schuyler Wires & <br /> The meeting was, called to order a : 30 p .m, for the purpose of <br /> interviewing candidates for two Board Secretary positions . Both the <br /> Waterways Commission and the Economic Development Commission' are in <br /> need of secretaries . The Personnel Board met with -Stephanie Nelly, <br /> Carol Dorton, and Lary Gelsthorp . The hours of the position, rate <br /> of pay, and job duties were reviewed with each candidate . Prion to <br /> the interviews, candidates _were testers for their typing and shorthand <br /> abilities * The Board previously interviewed another candidate, <br /> Patricia G rutchfield, at their meeting of February 7 . The Board <br /> voted to recommend Rat Crutchfield and Stephanie Kelly for <br /> appointment as a. Board Secretary, They also voted to recommend Mary <br /> elsthorpe as a Board Secretary Substitute ., <br /> Re nest for Clarification of Vacation Polis <br /> Anne Shaw, Town Treasurer, asked the Board to address the issue o <br /> whether they feel an employee should be credited with some vacation <br /> time if it snows on their day -off and the town hall delays opening . <br /> Anne did not feel it should be granted . The Board unanimous-ly agreed <br /> that vacation time should not be changed for snow days . <br /> .Sick Leave <br /> Marjorie Howard, a part-time Library Aide, asked the Board to address <br /> Sick Leave for surgical procedures . After , a brief discussion, the <br /> Board approved sick leave instead of requiring the employee to use <br /> vacation leave . <br /> Sexual Harassment Fol, c <br /> The Personnel Administrator provided the Board with a copy of the <br /> Town of Barnstable ' s Sexual Harassment Policy. She also advised the <br /> Board that she looked into management training by contacting Jane <br /> Edmonds & Associates a firm located in Boston )-. The cost would b <br /> $700 for a ninety-minute workshop to department heads which would <br /> include a ten-minute introduction about the definition of sexual <br /> harassment, legal concepts, an interactive exercise, and questions <br /> and lin . Jane Edmonds would offer a discount to the town if more <br /> than one workshop was scheduled . No action was taken- to schedule any <br /> workshops at this time due to finances . <br /> The Board members agreed to research additional areas for a copy .of <br /> other p-ol i cies . <br /> Chance in Job Description/Title <br /> The Personnel Board reviewed a memo dated February 15 from Helene j <br /> DeFoe, Librarian, advising them that the Board of Library 'trustees <br /> voted to change the job descriptions -of the library ' s P.A. P. <br /> employees and to change the job title of Library Aide to Circulation <br />
