2 <br /> BOARD MINUTESPAGE <br /> MEETING OF MAR -+r 7, 1994 <br /> 4. <br /> Mi s i cin Statement for Personnel <br /> The Board adopted the following statement as their mission statement for <br /> Personnel : "The oficy o the Human resource � e artment is to be morally <br /> committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for every individual and to <br /> assume a personal responsibility for assuring that this concept work's . Let us <br /> lead by example its ensuring equal opportunity and fair treatment for a-ll , as <br /> we continue to offer our services to the citizens of Mas p e . ". <br /> Agenda for Personnel Conferenc e <br /> Board members were advised that they would receive an agenda for their <br /> Personnel Conference scheduled for April 8 at Ballyme det Items to be <br /> addressed are "Human Resource Megatrends for the 1990 ' s, Conflict Resolution <br /> at Work, Congression al Legislative Update, Communicate With Success, Legal <br /> Minefields for HR Managers, and Spreading Laughter on the Job . <br /> Annual Evaluations <br /> I I I YI■\iifMRi! <br /> The Board was advised that annual evaluations were completed for Maryanne <br /> Gibbs and Gregg Fraser. Both evaluations were very favorable. <br /> The Board reviewed correspondence from Dave Bailey, Director of Assessing, <br /> dated March 3 relative to granting Gregg Fraser, Data Collector, a two-step <br /> increase rather than the customary one-step increase . Dave states that he and <br /> the Board of Assessors would like to reward him for his contributions to the <br /> depairtment as he has proven to be an exceptional employee. Where this request <br /> was not the normal procedure, they felt that Dave. Bailey should come in and <br /> tally with them to justify the request . They voted to grant a one-step <br /> increase to Gregg Fraser on his anniversary date . <br /> Correspondence from . Secretary Finance Committee <br /> I III Y 14 Y i�Y�Y� I��w+l y5 I t4 M�rlhrwlrtYlrY��l w�f <br /> Board members reviewed a memo dated February 28 from Bob Whri enourasking the <br /> Board to assist the Finance Committee with clarification of the standard work <br /> week for P.A.P. employees which includes Department Heads . They also reviewed <br /> correspondence from the Finance Committee relative to this matter. <br /> Discussion ensued relative to the F,L. .A. law which- applies to non-exempt <br /> employees ( clerical and administrative ) . The law requires that you have to <br /> pay employees in this classification for every hour worked . Your have to <br /> provide a break after sic hours of work each day. Employees in this category <br /> are paid an hourly wage . They are paid overtime . <br /> Management -and Professional employees are exempt from the law. They are paid <br /> a salary to do the job and not paid by the hour. Managers have more <br /> responsibilities . Relative to the FinanceCommittee ' s concern about a paid <br /> lunch hour, there is no such thio g as a paid lunch hour. Managers are <br /> expected to work at least forty hours per week . <br /> I <br /> The Board asked the Personnel Administrator to handle the matter by following <br /> up with a memo addressing these concerns . <br />
