A S PEE TOWN HALE, <br /> PERSONNEL BOARD i <br /> MEETING OF JULY 6 , 1994 <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present : Joseph <br /> 11agala, Marcia Lindsey and Schuyer Aires . <br /> hai rm n Dellagala convened the meeting ting at 10 .* 14 a .m . <br /> Policies <br /> The Personnel Ad i-nistrator updated the Board about discussion at the <br /> Department Head meeting this morning of policies dealing with work <br /> rules . Issues discussed were ; h ,urs for management, lunch breaks <br /> coffee breaks and smoking breaks . <br /> Confidential . <br /> The Board addressed the issue of "Confidentiality" within the Personnel <br /> Department . A set of guidelines was approved by the Personnel Board <br /> and a memo will be sent to the ,Selectmen asking :dor acceptance of these <br /> guidelines dealing with "Confidentiality' <br /> Educational Standards for Police Personnel <br /> The Board reviewed a letter dated June 17 from Bob Whritenour. Executive <br /> Secretary, " asking . them to review and comment on a proposal f rom Deputy <br /> Chief Cooper for Educational Standards for Police Personnel/Educational <br /> Incenti.ve Program , <br /> The Board reviewed language in Article XX , of the collective bargaining <br /> agreement between the Town of Mashpee and ' call 389, Unit B, Police <br /> Sergeants which related to certification of cours,es by the New England <br /> Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools., 'or by the Massachusetts <br /> etts <br /> Board of Higher Education, or other state agencies responsible for such <br /> certification. They noted that the pr pc sed course of study was from <br /> the Pennsylvania State Associate Degree Program , <br /> Upon the Board review, they were in favor of professional development � <br /> for employees during off-duty times, however, they are not supportive of <br /> the proposed correspondence course , , <br /> Discipl.inary Plic <br /> Joe Dellagala asked Board members to be thinkinj of wording for a <br /> progressive disciplinary policy which they will include in their update <br /> of the Personnel. Administration Plan . <br /> Interviewing Polis <br /> Joe asked the Board to adopt the policy of asking -candidates being <br /> interviewed for Town jobs `show they learned abut the position"" . They <br /> .also agreed to tell candidates that they are appointed . <br />
