w <br /> PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 26, 1994 <br /> ASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Beard were present . Chairman <br /> Joseph Dellagala., Ronald Levine, and Marcia Lindsey . <br /> Chairman Dellagala convened the meeting- at 9 : 00 a . m . <br /> Ap'pointment with Chief Frye and Gail fc onald <br /> The Board met with Gail McDonald and chief Frye ( who arrived later in <br /> the meeting ) to discuss part-tire dispather positions versus full -time <br /> dispatch positions . Gail, explained that they have five full -time <br /> dispatchers currently -- two dispatchers work on the eight o ' clock <br /> shift, two dispatchers are on the four o ' clock shift and orie dispatcher <br /> is assigned to the midright shift as there are less calls during the <br /> midnight shift ) , <br /> The department is currently down to one part—time dispatchers from <br /> approximately ten part-time dispatchers . Ron Levine asked how they <br /> have been able to accomodate everything . Gail said that there has been <br /> a problem. Joe asked if the dispatchers altetnat,e shifts . Gail <br /> explained that there a,re shift bids every three months . She said there <br /> .has been a problem having a part-time person working one day a week . <br /> Joe asked where they could assign a full-tune person? Gail replied <br /> that a full-time person would be slotted in on a full -time dispdtch r ' <br /> days off . Joe commented that if they add another person, it will cover <br /> five shifts and that there would be five sh.i fts left . ail said that <br /> . they are trying to sage the town money . Sh-e, commented that full-time <br /> personnel receive benefits . <br /> Gail commented that another full-time dispatcher could be put in on 'a <br /> fifth shut and thea five shifts would be left for part-time personnel . <br /> Joe asked , about overtime? With regard to overtime of full-time <br /> dispatchers , Gail commented that the only overtime is when full -tire <br /> dispatchers are on vacation or out sick , <br /> Chief Frye explained that they are for additional help by July <br /> looking p <br /> 1 { 1995 . <br /> Discussion about the costs, involved ensued . Joe Dellagala asked the <br /> Chief to give the Board an idea of what the costs would be to train. <br /> Personnel Administrator Evaluation <br /> The .hoard reviewed the evaluation of the Personnel AdminIstrator <br /> completed by Bob whri tenour, Executive Secretary , They approved a step <br /> increase for Maril yp- Farren from Grade 12 , Step 3 to Grade 12 step 4 <br /> 4 <br /> retro-active to the first of July . <br />
