I '01vinission, Town of Mashpee �!Jjistor*ccd C 16 Great fleck Road North Moshpee, Massachusetts 02649 . � Telephone - 508 539-1438 MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMMISSION Minutes of Meeting--July 20, 2017 The Mashpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order by Ava Costello, Chairman, pro tern, at 1`l:ooam. Commissioners Present: Ava Costello, Rosemary Burns Love, Michael Horne, and Fancy Soderberg. Commissioners not Present: Brian Hyde, Gordon Deters, and Tan Tavares-Avant. Rosemary proposed that we approve the Minutes of our.dune 22, 2017, Meeting, with changes, and alike Horne seconded the motion. We further discussed an event to celebrate Frank Lord's years of dedication to the Mashpee One Room schoolhouse; in particular, have the Board of selectmen prepare a certificate of Appreciation and have a "Frank Lord Day" ceremony. since the Quashnet Dalley third grade teachers would be involved because of the many tours that Frank conducted for their students, we proposed a fall date. Mike suggested that Ann check with dike Dennis from Awards of Cape Cod to see about having a plaque made up to be on display in the schoolhouse. Taney Soderberg submitted her letter of resignation from the chair of the Mashpee Historical Commission. Motion was made by Mike Horne to accept her resignation as Chair, and it was seconded by Rosemary. Rosemary thanked her for all her hard work through a difficult time for the Commission. she was here working with Frank and the DPW workers when all the items in the building were packed up and moved into storage. She also worked with us while we were in temporary office space in the Town Hall basement from 2012 through the spring of 2015, when we moved back into our totally renovated building. fancy has been a very active member and has volunteered many Roars at the Archives over the past six gears, and she will continue to serge as a commissioner. Lotion was made by Mike Horne to accept her resignation as Chair, and it was seconded by Rosemary. Rosemary proposed that we vote to appoint Ava Costello as chair of the Mashpee historical Commission. The motion was seconded by Mike Horne. we all feel that with Ava's background of teaching History at Northeastern University for many years, along with her administrative skills which she developed there, that she is very well qualified and will be adept at handling the added responsibilities of her new position with the Commission. Ava submitted her letter of acceptance. Ava has written a Survey Form that she will ask each Commissioner to fill out to
