Mashpee Waterways Commission Minutes <br /> Mashpee Town Hall <br /> Minutes of the May 81h, 2018 Meeting <br /> Chairman Bates called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall <br /> Present: Ken Bates, Don MacDonald, Don Barton,Stan Healy, Al Wickel,Tim Leedham <br /> Absent:Steve Mone <br /> Also in Attendance: Rick York, NRD, Brian Everett,Shellfish Constable,Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> Darâ–º MacDonald made a motion to approve the minutes of April 10, 2018 and was 2nd by Stan Healy- <br /> unanimously approved. <br /> Communications and Correspondence: <br /> Dock plans for 21 Metacomet Rd. were discussed. The Harbormaster will be asked to review the <br /> submission to determine if there is a loss of habitat concern. The walkway to the float appears to be too <br /> long but did not find a length restriction. Nothing shown on either side or across the waterway. <br /> Old Business <br /> Harbormaster Report: Rick York gave the Harbormaster's report in his absence. <br /> Harbormaster staff have been finishing up placing channel markers in the various locations and will <br /> move onto Mashpee-Wakeby and Johns Pond next. Placing markers in Popponesset was slowed down <br /> this year due to the Popponesset Approach Channel dredge as our office did not want to lose any <br /> marker equipment. Harbormaster staff has also been busy placing markers for new mooring holders <br /> and coordinating with mooring inspectors to coordinate the placement of newly issued moorings. <br /> Mooring stickers for 2018 have been sent out to mooring holders who have paid their bill and are in <br /> adherence to the mooring regulations. <br /> The only enforcement to report is the camper being removed from the beach off of Wills Work Road. <br /> This information was passed along to Conservation who is issuing a citation for the damage caused by <br /> his truck. We also terminated the voyage of a vessel at the Mashpee-Wakeby Ramp on Sunday 5/6. The <br /> vessel was unregistered and was immediately removed from the water by the owner. <br /> Three of my Assistant Harbormasters and I,will be attending the NASBLA for the Boating Under the <br /> Influence Course. The course is 3 days in duration and is taught in coordination with the Massachusetts <br /> Environmental Police. After completion of the Course,staff who attend,will be certified to detect signs <br /> of impaired boating, and also administer field sobriety testing. <br /> DNR Director Shellfish Constable Report: <br /> Rick indicated there is water quality checks on Mashpee fresh water lakes and ponds once a year and <br /> that oxygen and water temperatures are checked except Santuit mond is continuously monitored all <br /> year. 'Rick also mentioned the occurrence of sand buildup at the Mashpee-Wakeby Ramp caused by <br />
