Chair Maryanne Gibbs <br /> and Janice Mills were unable to attend this evenin fs <br /> meeting. <br /> Administration - Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lincoln A. <br /> DeMoura. <br /> PTO Members - Pain Stone, Sheryl Holmes, Terrie Cook, <br /> Arden Cadrin, Widdy Lander, Rose Regan, Joanne Davis, <br /> Diary O'Brien, Maryanne Macdonald, Ellen Davis, Maureen <br /> Colescott, Nick Feldman and Robert Tippo <br /> Dr. Petti called the joint meeting to order at 7 :06 p.m. <br /> in the Middle School Library. She turned the meeting <br /> over to Dr. DeMoura who discussed the FY96 F96school budget. <br /> Dir. DeMoura reviewed the attached handouts with the <br /> Committee and PTO explaining each line item. He <br /> explained that in order to preach the Finance Committee's <br /> recommended FY96 school budget figure of $6,607,975, al l <br /> new teaching positions would have to be eliminated thus <br /> resulting in larder class sizes. <br /> i <br /> The PTO members stressed the meed that in order to have <br /> quality. -education, small..--class sizes should be a top <br /> priority .-for the Committee to consider. <br /> . Y DMus' planned the -}Chapter I replacement model <br /> -- where-there-would-be two--replacement mode.s next year to <br /> = en ra e ' one extra teacher in Grade 2 . <br /> i <br /> i Also, the "Troops to Teachers" concept, where 50 of <br /> first-yea ` salary is paid by the government and the <br /> percentage decreases for five years, not to exceed <br /> 0,000, was explained as a possible cost-savings idea. <br /> This teacher would be a retired military person and may <br /> be placed in a Grade 6 claBsroom. <br /> Mr. Consalvi mentioned the Medicaid reimbursement of <br /> $100, 000 would need a town meeting vote in order to <br /> transfer Medicaid reimbursement for special ed uation <br /> services to the school budgets <br />
