r f MASH EE SCHOOL COMMITTEE -- SPECIAL MEETING APRIL 11r 1995 PAGE 2 Dr. DeMoura said these representatives were invited to attend the School Committee meeting to maintain an "open door' communication between Cape Cod Tech and Mashpee students. Mr. _Terary, Mr* Bartley and Mr. Carroll updated the Committee on the activities at Cape Cod Tech, discussing the various programs that are available. Mr. Carroll invited the Committee members to -visit Cape Cod Tech and see what classes and courses are available to students who attend. III. Ir. Ted O'Rourke, Teachers' Association representative, Public addressed the Committee in hopes of arriving at a Unit B Forum negotiations settlement. Mr. 0ORourke suggested resolving the impasse with one of the following two options: the Association and School Committee commit to binding arbitration or have the entire School Committee meet with the Association at the next mediation session. Binding arbitration would involve both parties would submit a proposal to an arbitrator who would then resolve the matter. Robin Agricola, a sixth grader at - the Middle School, presented the Committee with a petition signed by fellow students who opposed the reorganization plan for next year. Dr. DeMoura answered questions regarding the reorganization and its effects on the studentsto Cathy Lynch expressed her concerns regarding the Grade 4 students ' transporati n for next year and asked that a meeting be set with parents of those involved before making any changes. Dr. DeMoura agreed to do s * Diane Mulvey discussed teacher certification saying some teachers do not have the appropriate certification to teach all subjects within the self-contained classrooms the sixth grade will be changing to next year. She also expressed concerns over a six-day cycle for physical education requirements not being met as mandatede Dr, DeMoura said he would investigate this matter. IV. 4 . 1 School Committee Communi- cations 4 . 1. 1 Tax a ers ' Association - Ms. Gibbs summarized letter dated March 29, 1995 from the Taxpayers ' Association wherein they state that they will be sponsoring a public debate regarding the reorganization pian for next year. This debate will take place at the Carol Jacobsen Senior Center on April 20, 1995 at 4 :00 p 4 m. 4 . 1.2 Women's Lea a of Voters - M8.
