r <br /> f <br /> MASH EE SCHOOL COMMITTEE -- SPECIAL MEETING APRIL 11r 1995 PAGE 2 <br /> Dr. DeMoura said these representatives were invited to <br /> attend the School Committee meeting to maintain an "open <br /> door' communication between Cape Cod Tech and Mashpee <br /> students. Mr. _Terary, Mr* Bartley and Mr. Carroll updated the <br /> Committee on the activities at Cape Cod Tech, discussing the <br /> various programs that are available. Mr. Carroll invited <br /> the Committee members to -visit Cape Cod Tech and see what <br /> classes and courses are available to students who attend. <br /> III. Ir. Ted O'Rourke, Teachers' Association representative, <br /> Public addressed the Committee in hopes of arriving at a Unit B <br /> Forum negotiations settlement. Mr. 0ORourke suggested resolving <br /> the impasse with one of the following two options: the <br /> Association and School Committee commit to binding <br /> arbitration or have the entire School Committee meet with <br /> the Association at the next mediation session. Binding <br /> arbitration would involve both parties would submit a <br /> proposal to an arbitrator who would then resolve the matter. <br /> Robin Agricola, a sixth grader at - the Middle School, <br /> presented the Committee with a petition signed by fellow <br /> students who opposed the reorganization plan for next year. <br /> Dr. DeMoura answered questions regarding the reorganization <br /> and its effects on the studentsto <br /> Cathy Lynch expressed her concerns regarding the Grade 4 <br /> students ' transporati n for next year and asked that a <br /> meeting be set with parents of those involved before making <br /> any changes. Dr. DeMoura agreed to do s * <br /> Diane Mulvey discussed teacher certification saying some <br /> teachers do not have the appropriate certification to teach <br /> all subjects within the self-contained classrooms the sixth <br /> grade will be changing to next year. She also expressed <br /> concerns over a six-day cycle for physical education <br /> requirements not being met as mandatede Dr, DeMoura said he <br /> would investigate this matter. <br /> IV. 4 . 1 School Committee <br /> Communi- <br /> cations 4 . 1. 1 Tax a ers ' Association - Ms. Gibbs summarized <br /> letter dated March 29, 1995 from the Taxpayers ' Association <br /> wherein they state that they will be sponsoring a public <br /> debate regarding the reorganization pian for next year. <br /> This debate will take place at the Carol Jacobsen Senior <br /> Center on April 20, 1995 at 4 :00 p 4 m. <br /> 4 . 1.2 Women's Lea a of Voters - M8. Gibbs read aloud a <br /> letter dated March 27 , 1995 regarding a pre-Town Meeting <br /> discussion t review the warrant articles for the upcoming <br /> Town Meeting set for May 1, 1995 .
