r MASDEE PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGULAR MEETING MARCH 61 1996 Minutes The regular meeting of the School Committee was called to all Meeting order by Chair Janice Mills at 7 : 02 p.m. in the Middle o Order School Library. Attendees: School Committee - Chair Janice Mills, Stephen Paxton, David Consalv,i, Kathleen Lynch, and Theresa Cook. .Administration - Superintendent of Schools Dr, Lincoln A. DeMoura, Coombs School Principal lick Feldman, Middle School Principal Robert Tippo and High School Principal John Williams. T . . 1 Regular Meeting of February 12F 1996 - Motion made by Approval of Mr. Consalvi, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, to approve the minutes Minutes of the regular meeting of February 12, 1996 . NOTE: Unanimous 2 ,2 Joint Meeting with School Councils of February 15, 1996_ Motion made by Mr. Paxton, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, to approve the minutes of the joint School. Committee and School Councils meeting of February 15, 1996. VOTE: Unanimous Kimberly Costello expressed her distress over the Odyssey- Public of-the-Mind Tournament and the Science Fairs being scheduled Forum on the sane day, Saturday, March 1 . She felt the dates should have been coordinated and this conflict could have been avoided. Mrs. Mills asked Dr. DeMoura if the Science Fairs could possibly be changed. Dr. DeMoura responded that world not be possible this year but perhaps next year. Mrs. Costello also asked when the CTBS scores would be released to the public. D e DeMoura said these test scores are an in-house instrument and individual scores will b sent hone. Mr. Paxton asked why aren't these test scores published like the MEAP scores? Dr. DeMoura said these tests are administered -to be used as a pretest to determine what needs to be strengthened and see what's been achieved. Coombs School Librarian Diane Kingsley addressed the Committee on her concerns over the libraries being understaffed and not fully utilized. She said the current proposal is a disservice to the students and staff.
