i MASHPEE PUBLIC SCHOOLS SPECIAL SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING 'UNE 20, 1996 Minutes Attendees: School. Committee - Kathleen Lynch, Janice Mills, Theresa Cook, Maryanne Macdonald. Chairman Stephen Paxton arrived at :o p-me Administration - Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lincoln A. DeMoura, Principals Nick Feldman, Robert Tippo and .Louise Doyle. Vice Chair Mrs. Lynch opened the special meeting at 6: 00 p.m. in the Middle School Library. Michelle Drum spoke on behalf of the Ma hpee Band ,and Chorus Parents Association asking the committee to vote in favor of music lessons. Dr. DeMoura discussed the FY96 F96budget trap- sfers attached memo) . Discussion then following on shuttling of students between the high school and middle school for after-school athletics, i.e. , field hockey, football, and soccer programs) , Mrs. Lynch suggested going out to bid on gasoline, Dr. DeMoura will investigate this possibility. Mrs. dills expressed concern over -the audio-visual surplus equipment. She suggested devising a capital expenditure plan. Mr. Paxton suggested that balances should be used for' capital expenditures equipment replacement and building maintenance. ) Mrs. Lynch suggested doing more maintenande this year and reduce these accounts next year by moving these monies to the textbook account. Mrs. Mills agreed with this suggestion. Mrs. Lynch questioned purchasing of air quality monitoring equipment. D o DeMoura said there are currently four air exchange units on the Middle School roof. However, equipment for temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide and,carbon monoxide, air velocity would be required. Mrs. Mills suggested purchasing this equipment through the high , school bona for science classes. Dr. DeMoura will look at this possibility. Motion made by Mrs. Malls to transfer the following
