MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR M ETIN AUGUST , 1996 PAGE <br /> . 12 Review of MarkLna.System Grades 1- - This was a <br /> continuation of a previous discussion regarding Grades 1-3 <br /> marking system. It was decided to refer this topic to the <br /> elementary sub-committee at their next meeting. <br /> Donna McCaffrey asked if those involved on the report card <br /> sub-committee could be involved with the elementary sub- <br /> committee to explain the changes. Mrs. Cook said the <br /> meeting is ars open meeting to all. <br /> The principals will invite their respective school councils <br /> to this meeting. <br /> . 13 school Building Assist nce Priority List - The packet <br /> ,included a listing from the Department of Education of the <br /> FY1997 School Building Assistance Priority List. Dr. <br /> DeMoura explained that Mashpee did not appear on that last <br /> because Mashpee has already been approved for building <br /> assistance* <br /> 6 . 14 First Day Schedule - Dr, ] e iouara discussed the September 3, <br /> 1996 first day back for teachers agenda. It was suggested <br /> to include "Chairman's Remarks" on the agenda. This will <br /> be added to the agenda. <br /> Vii1b 791 FY97 school Committee Goals and Priorities - The following <br /> Specifically are FY97 goals from each School Committee member as lasted: <br /> Assigned/ <br /> Unfinished Ms. Macdonald - Wants to get a committee together to meet <br /> Business with staff, parents, students and administrators to discuss <br /> improvement of test scores and help those students who are <br /> lacking a foundation., <br /> Mrs. Coop would like to see a closer relationship between <br /> i <br /> the school councils and implementation of the School <br /> Improvement Plans. also, Mrs. Cook would like to take <br /> advantage of, and continue the Professional Development <br /> workshops. <br /> Mrs. Mills' goal is the opening of the high school, to get <br /> a network in operation early on, i.e. , to address any <br /> complaints or glitches in an orderly fashion. <br /> S. Lynch's goal is to improve the relationship and <br /> community involvement with the Board of Selectmen, Finance <br /> Committee and taxpayers of the town and how to get them all <br /> to understand the ever-increasing enrollments and costs per <br /> student are increasing especially with the high school on <br /> line ; when the high school students are in puce, ghat is <br /> going to be the impact.
