r <br /> MASH EE SCHOOL COMMITTEE — REGULAR ULAR MEETIN - SEPTEMBER 4. 1996 PAGE <br /> 6 .2 PrinciRalsf Report <br /> . . 1 High School - Mr. Williams gave his report earlier <br /> during the alternate plan discussion. <br /> 6.2 .2 Coombs School Mr. Feldman said, that the opening day <br /> was a "good days' and there were a few bus calls; first day <br /> enrollment total was 500; Mr. Feldman gave kudos to his staff . <br /> 6 .2.3 Elementary School. - Mrs. Doyle thanked the teachers for <br /> coming in during the summer to help out and acknowledged the <br /> custodians and the fine cleaning job done to get the school <br /> ready; the administrative office is ready; bus issues have <br /> been logged and invited to attend the Safe Transportation Task <br /> Force meeting on September 17 , 1996 at 7 :00 p.m. ; there will <br /> be a staff meeting of September ; Mrs. Doyle would like to <br /> strive for communication and .responsibility as goals for the <br /> year; new registrations are still coming in; kindergarten <br /> orientation will be held on Friday, September ; there were <br /> 331 students in the elementary school today. <br /> 6.2 .4 Middle School - Mr. 'hippo gave kudos to the custodians <br /> for their outstanding job in the Middle School during the <br /> summer; 9 f students ,i grades 1-6 attended school today; <br /> lunches went well; there is a meeting with Laidlaw tomorrow; <br /> kudos to the teaching staff. <br /> Dr. DeMoura .reviewed the system-wide enrollments on the first <br /> clay of school (today) . They were: Coombs-533; Elementary . <br /> School-326; Middle School-423; High School-371; Falmouth High <br /> School-244 with cape cod Tech at 48 enrollments. There was a <br /> total of 1, 897 district-wide with 99 additional students over <br /> last year. <br /> 6 .3 Food Service Update - Theme was no report this evening. <br /> 4 FY97 Monthly Budget Review — Dre DeMoura addressed Mrs,, <br /> Lynch`s letter in which she questioned a $60,000 salarr <br /> deficit. Dr. DeMoura said that a mistake had been made by <br /> double-counting a kindergarten teacher f s salary. Currently, <br /> there is a $7 , 856 ficiency and that will probably go higher <br /> when Unit C is settled. Also, additional coaches salaries <br /> need to be included. <br /> Mrs. Lynch discussed the location and safety of Mrs. D yie r s <br /> office in the elementary school. Mrs. Doyle responded saying <br /> that the back doors are there are plans to have the back door <br /> manned by senior citizens and passes will be distributed upon <br /> entry. <br /> The Summer Institute profited $934 dollars while the Summer <br /> School. lost $2,705. <br />
