(Item F <br /> 7.7 "Wa anoag i t u and Cul �� �urricul m Elective: <br /> Dr.DeMoura requested the Cottee review the potential infusion <br /> of Mashpee Wampanoag History and Culture for all students in the <br /> Mashpee Public School System. <br /> The course would 'introduce students to the rich history and culture of <br /> the Mashpee wampanoags. Ton-Native Americans would have the ability <br /> to participate in the elective;half-year course infdrnned Dr. DeMoura who <br /> noted that Indian Education is presently provided to those students who <br /> are of Dative American decent <br /> Correspondence was received from John Williams,Principal of the <br /> High School dated January 21, 1997 relative to the Social Studies <br /> elective proposal, <br /> Mr.Williams reconunended that the course be made available to the <br /> 7th and 8th grade students for the 1997-1998 school year. The <br /> course if approved by the Committee, would be offered as an elective <br /> during the seventh period. <br /> Dr.DeMoura was erected by the Committee to post for the specialized <br /> program, and further discuss this matter with the-Mashpee Wampanoag <br /> Indian Tribal Council and Association representatives with regards to <br /> the elective proposal as outlined. <br />
