4 ` <br /> Page 10 <br /> Ma hpee School Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> May 1 , 1997 <br /> Vill, 8.9 Proposed Regulations-Parental Nofification Law: <br /> Report of <br /> the Super- Correspondence was received from Robert Antonucci dated <br /> intendent April 16, 1997 relative to the proposed Regulations on Dispute <br /> (continued) Resolution under the Parental Notification Law. <br /> Dr. DeMoura recommended the School Cottee develop a <br /> policy to include the Parental Notification Law, and relation to <br /> the Mashpee School system. <br /> `Agenda item, July 1997. <br /> .1 o Board of Education Correspondence:! <br /> Communication was received from John Silber, Board of <br /> Education elated April 15, 1997 in support of tech eiues for <br /> teaching children how to read. <br /> Mr. Silber stated that there is evidence that early detection and <br /> correction of deficiencies in phonemic awareness can reduce <br /> substantially the number of children placed in special education <br /> programs. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to the Pre-First Grade Program, <br /> and the full-day Kindergarten Program. <br /> Dr. DeMoura was directed to review the types of accomplishments <br /> first and second grade students have attuned as a result of the full <br /> day Kindergarten Program.
