Also in attendance was Superintendent of Schools Lincoln A. <br /> eMoura. <br /> Mrs. Lynch called the public hearing to order to discuss the FY98 <br /> all Public school budget at 7:01 p.m. in High School Conference Room B-103. <br /> earing to Order <br /> I. Dr. DeMoura read aloud the public notice as follows: <br /> eading of <br /> blie Notice "Notice is hereby given that the Mashpee School Committee will <br /> conduct a Public Hearing under Chapter 71,Section 38N for the purpose <br /> of approving their 1997-1998 school budget of$9,980,000 on <br /> Wednesday, June 4, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. in Room B-103 of the Mashpee <br /> High School, 500 Old Barnstable Road, Mashpee, MA 02649 at which <br /> time all interested persons, parties and corporations may appear and be <br /> heard in relation thereto. Copies of the budget are available for review in <br /> the Office of the Superintendent, 500 Old Barnstable Road, Mashpee, <br /> MA." <br /> II. Dr. DeMoura gave a brief outline of the FY98 budget. During his <br /> resentation discussion, he explained that due to budget constraints, there will be no <br /> y Superin- pre-first program, no gifted/talented program, nor an alternative <br /> endent education program during the 1997-1998 school year. Also eliminated <br /> from the budget is the reading revision. " <br /> There was no discussion. <br /> Discussion <br /> V. 5.1 Proponents - Mrs. Phyllis Sprout expressed concern over the <br /> Public Input elimination of the reading revision which included phonics, etc. <br /> Dr. Elizabeth Petti asked how much money is budgeted for the gifted <br /> program. Dr. DeMoura responded estimating $28,000. She asked if an <br /> outside funding <br />
