SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> JULY 2 , 1997 <br /> Mlinutes <br /> Attendees: Chairwoman Kathleen Lynch, 'Theresa Cook, Maryanne Macdonald, and <br /> Stephen Paxton. Absent was , anice Mill . .lso in attendance was Superintendent of <br /> Schools Dr. Lincoln A. I eMoura and School Attomey William F. Butler III. <br /> The executive session was called to ordery .MrsLynch at 8:42 .m. 'n Room -103 at <br /> Mashpee High School. <br /> The first order of business was to discuss the arbitration hearing that was held on July 2 , <br /> 1997. Attorney Butler updated the Committee on that meeting. <br /> Mr. Paxton made a motion to authorize the Superintendent and legal counsel to negotiate <br /> with the Mashpee Teachers'Association to attempt to settle the teachers' work clay with <br /> 0; and 200_day caps in accordance with the Teachers'Agreement, Article III as well settle <br /> all pending grievances. Motion seconded by Ms. Macdonald. <br /> ROLL CALL NOTE: in favor- Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. cool, Ms. Macdonald, Mr. Paxton; opposed <br /> - none. Mrs. Mills was absent. <br /> Discussion thea followed on Unit A mid-ter negotiations. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Paxton to declare an impasse on the athletic director and institute last <br /> good faith proposal of $1'7,500. Motion seconded by Ms. Macdonald. <br /> Bargaining for instrumental lessons will be to hold 40 30-minute periods per week. -A letter <br /> will be sent to the Association informing them of this action, <br /> ROLL CALL : In favor -- Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. cook, Ms. Macdonald, Mr. Paxton; opposed <br /> - none. Mrs. Mills was absent, <br /> Attorney Butler reported the update on Jean Sibson--Bess issue. <br /> Correspondence from High School crossing Guard John Pellegrini was reviewed. <br />
