f F
MASHPEEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 7., 1997 PAGE
.3 Mashpee Teachers' Association - Included in the packet was
letter to Mrs. Lynch from the Mashpee Teachers' Association
President Kathleen Reynolds.nolds. Mrs. Lynch read aloud the letter
which stated that teachers are finding it frustrating to do their job
effectively ensuring equity among the three elementary schools.
The teachers feel that their creativity has been stifled because so
much focus is placed on one school's activities while the other
schools may choose different activities.
Because the letter was addressed to Mrs. Lynch only, she
responded on her own behalf. She stated that she felt the School
Committee,, in their efforts to enforce equality ire all schools, do not
stifle the teachers' creativity. As examples, she listed events at the
Quashnet Schools: murals on the wall, mural on the ground, "Go
Fly a Kite" program, Go For the Gold" program, the art program,
the Laidlaw bus program last year. Also concerning Mrs. Lynch is
the equity in the guidance arca at the schools is still ars issue.
Ms. Macdonald said, "we're trying to make little things better. we
won't stop ung to improve."
VI.
