He 'explained that as part of the partnership, 1 lashpee was <br /> able to secure the services of a part-time counselor who would <br /> divide their time between Mashpee and Sandwich. He was <br /> involved in the interview process With others to locate an individual <br /> who would meet with Mashpee and Sandwich business owners in <br /> the community and see what heir creeds are then match those <br /> needs to the needs of students. Also, that job may be increased <br /> next year to integrate with the program next year. <br /> 7.14 TaxDaver Relief Act of 1997 - Dr. DeMoura explained that <br /> any computer donations to the school cannot be more than two <br /> years old. In the past, any computer donation to the school <br /> department would result in a letter to the donor to use as a tam <br /> write-off. With this new Act, only computers less than two gears <br /> old will be allowed. <br /> V111. Specifically At this point, Dr. DeMoura asked permission to discuss a printout <br /> Assigned/ from the Division of Local Services where Mashpee's municipal <br /> Unfinished growth factor is $507,219. Along that same vein, Dr. DeMoura <br /> Business composed a memo to the Executive Secretary outlining monies that <br /> could be available. As requested at the Joint meeting with the <br /> Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee Dr. DeMoura <br /> explained a pie graph showing a difference of $2,019,702 between <br /> FY $11,999,702) and FY98 ($9,980,000). New positions <br /> ($1,160,000) and current salaries including steps and COLA total <br /> approximately $1,600,000. An increase in the athletic budget, <br /> textbooks for grade 11, social sciences and music are the most <br /> significant increases. Other areas professional development, <br /> library books, transportation (including special education), special <br /> education tuition, equipment and other expenses are insignificant. <br /> This will be discussed at the next budget meeting on March 1 , <br /> 1938. Mrs. Cool, once again, reiterated her concern that the <br /> School Department is not asking for -an additional $2,000,000 <br /> increase; they are requesting $1,500,000 increase because of the <br /> $500,000 reduction in the Falmouth High School tuition. <br />
