MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING ETING MARCH 4, 1998 PAGE 3 <br /> Mrs. Lynch questioned that one of the reading teachers was not <br /> i <br /> certified in reading. Dr. DeMoura said that a reading-certified <br /> teacher was preferred, however, there were not enough reading_ <br /> certified candidates that applied with for these positions. Also, <br /> these positions are for the remainder of the 1997-1998 school year <br /> only. <br /> 7.2 Food Service Update - Dr. r, eMoura reported a profit of <br /> $3,979.22 in January. He explained the revised "School Lunch <br /> Reconciliation For Wherein the "ProgramBalance" figure <br /> includes inventory. <br /> .3 Enrollments - Dr. DeMoura updated the Committee on the <br /> enrollments. They were as follows: Coombs s School, 530; <br /> Quashnet Valley,, 442; Quashnet River, 348; 11 as pee High School, <br /> 514; Falmouth High School, 150 totaling 1,984 students in grades <br /> preschool-12. Cape Cod Tech enrollments are 63. <br /> 7.4 Facilities report - School Facilities Supervisor Dori Cook <br /> advised the Committee on monthly maintenance issues. They <br /> were: <br /> Coombs School: <br /> • During February vacation, a pre-bid conference was held <br /> regarding the HVAC improvements. The bid opening is <br /> scheduled for 'Thursday, March 12, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. <br /> • Hallways and common area floors were refinished during <br /> February vacation. <br /> QyashnetSchools: <br /> The contract for replacement of the hot water boiler has been <br /> carded to Colonial Gas. 'Total cost for the project is $16,000. <br /> Colonial Gas Will contribute $7,500 through ars energy-savings <br /> program. Cost to Mashpee Will he $8,500. Estimated payback <br /> is 14 months. <br /> Bathroom faucets in the older- section Ofthe school were <br /> replaced withwater-saving automatic shutoff-type similar t <br /> the ores in use throughout the school system. <br /> Three bathrooms were painted during the February vacation. <br /> Remaining bathrooms are scheduled for painting during the <br /> April vacation. <br />
