Gottlieb replied by stating that everyone present had the sante interest which is to make Atta juin Park a usable, pleasant safe place to be for all residents . The remark appeared in the newspaper and quoted Wendy -Rubin as stating that the Park was predominantly used by the Wompanoag Indians . He felt that her 4 statement should be clar.if i-ed. Cynthia Mills , a lifeguard at Attauin Park stated that she had experienced no problems at the Beach, Mrs . Judy Mills stated that she felt it unfair that people had not been informed of job termination and had read about it in the newspaper. Mr. Lawrence advised Mrs , Mills that there could be no discussion of personnel issues , Joan Tavares , representing the Tribal Council made the following recommendations; 1 . Lifeguard on -duty should be provided with a two-way radio in case of emer en _ ;* Mr. .,cart er moved to appoint a committee to be made up of various ..hotheowner associations , town officials t DPW,, Parks & Recreation Dept , , and Police Department 'with no more than nine and no less than members to meet as soon as possible (Thursday, July 20 , 1988 at 7:00 p.m. to address the issues at Attaquin Park. Ir. Gottlieb seconded the motion and indicated his interest In serving on the committee to represent the Board of Selectmen. Mrs . Jacobson also indicated her interest in serving on the committee. All were in favor. Mr. Carter moved that the, Board instruct Ernie Virgilio to work with the Police I epartment"to place boulders Or other barricades to block access to the Park (with the exception of the main entrance) . Mrs . Jacobson seconded the motion. All were in favor.
