i
i
r
BOARD of SELECTMEN
MINUTES - REGULAR SESSION
MONDAY, O TOBE v 1988
PAGE TWO
APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS
1 (Cont, )
overlay of Great oak Road and -that the State would take
over some of the maintenance of Great oak Rod until
such time as there Is enough money to complete a full
depth reconstruction of the Road. Mr. Ku or stated
that solving the Great oak Road oroblern is at least two
years away.
The Board was informed that the cost for the temporary
overlay would be approximate'ly $325 , 000 and $3 , 000 , 000
for per-mane t repair and that -the State does not have
enough money to permanently repair the road at this
po i n't.
Mrs . Jacobson asked why $3 ,, 000 , 000 out of the $5.8
i l l i on for the Park development project could not be
used to Permanently repair the road and have the
remainder used toward the development of the Park. Mr .
ur responded t- if the money was used to repair the
road, there would not be enough money to do the Town
Beach or the State Beach - he stated that there would
be a i-o d that leads to an undeveloped s i to that would
not be managed properly and considerable harry would be
done -to the ecology of South Cape Beach.
There was a question as to whether the Selectmen could i
fact vote to change something that was previously voted by
Town Meeting. An answer from Town Counsel would be -required
on this issue.
Mr . v i r ilio stated that there had been no problems to date
with the asphalt section of the road, but with the "dirt
section" leading `to the Beach . Mr. Ku or stated that the
plan is to repair the "dirt sectio " of the road next spring
as part of the slite development.
Mr, Canter roved to take the matter, under} advisement until
next week, either to have the issue go to Town Meeting or to
have the Board of Selectmen vote. Mr. Hanson seconded the
motion. All were in favor .
