Glenn Marshall: Let me say this. Just for one half of a second. Everybody has
consideration about sovereign, about sovereignty issues and I
would tell you that you have been living with sovereignty issues
since the beginning of the time. All it gives is a government to
government relationship with the tribe, the town, the municipality,
the state and the federal government. And, no where is it such a
sovereign state that we cannot be approached. And, the Enterprise
said that I say that you are wasting taxpayer's dollars with Dale
and Torr, and I will say why. First off, they are not the law fpm
that they were back in the o's. They are not tuned in to Indian
issues. They are more apt to do corporate lav and environmental
law than they are to do Indian law. That's number one. Dumber
two,the trip to washmngton DC that you are proposing to take, if
you went to go to the BIA today, they would tell you the same
thing they would tell m . That we cannot talk about the 1lashpee
ease because.the petition is under review. And,that we can talk to
you during the comment period. So, and as far as the politicians
are concerned, the only thing that they are going to do is regulate
the process and mare sure that the playing field is level. And, as
far as Ir. Reveille is concerned about sovereign nation residing
within the boundaries of Mashpee, it's been here. I don't know
where you have been, but it's been here. And as far as being out of
control, I don't think we have been. I think that we have put our
best foot forward in every aspect. The ongoing negotiations, or try
to negotiate with the town:..
Selectman Reveille: Excuse nye Glenn, I don't remember any comments about being
out of control...
Glenn Marshall: leo, well, the way they talk about the ultimate sovereign nation
being and, one thing that I would like to char up with you-is there
isn't a degree of recognition. You lost your opportunity to
negotiate recognition when you stopped the facilitation talks last
year. The BIA is either going to say, yes you are, or no you are
not. Thre isn't any little piece that you can negotiate. And, the
sad part about that is, it only comes down to lands available that
would be agreeable to both parties later on. And,that is as simple
as it gets, nothing more, nothing less. And, you know, the tribes
position has always been that it will help.those.who help thein.
.lust like they have always. They are not gong to charge their
Position.
Selectman Reveille: Chuckle, this is a little different that what you said a few minutes
ago.
Glenn Marshall: I wasn't here, so I don't know.
