I
I
is whJL
rh would be located adjacent to the renovated wase-
' water treatment plant at the Massachusetts Military
Reservation, In the event this solution to our lagoon prob-
lems does not appear feasible either from an economic or op-
erations and management standpoint, we are concurrently pur-
suing our own facility planning for a septage treatment
plant to be located on the landfill property, The state ap-
proval process, however, continues to be painfully slow.
Due to the severe 17% budget cut this department in-
curred for the current fiscal year, our part-time 2
hrs/week) clerk was laid off and our assistant agent's hours
were reduced from 40 to 28 hogs per week. This put a tre-
mendous strain on the department, which we hope to rectify
in fiscal 1993 ,
In conclusion, the Board of Health wishes to reassure
the residents of Iashpee that it will continue to rake every
possible effort to maintain and safeguard the public health
of all its citizens, We will continue to pay particular at-
tention to the protection and remediation. of our groundwater
problems and the issues associated with it.
On behalf of myself, George R. Costa, Co-Chairman and
Stephen J, Greelish, Clerk, we wib to thank you, the resi-
dents of Mashpee, for your continued support,,
Respectfully submitted,
John T. Doherty
Chairman
BAM/eam
