•
r
{
through the water in the pipe and into the groundwater." "To be even more safe in my
assumption I
M]NUTES March 6, 1997 3 BOARDHEALTH
had the water District determine which of the direct abutters of this house were still on
private wells." "There were two - one house, 34 Treasure Lane and one, just south of the
property, 14 Cutlass Lane." I went out there this morning and spoke with the people at
14 Cutlass Lane and explained the situation and told them I would like to take a water
sample." "The sample is currently being analyzed by Barnstable County," "The other
house is up for sale and the water had been shut-off." "I called the Real Estate broker and
met with him out there this afternoon." "He let nye in and it turned out the water had been
drained." "He is going to get in touch with the owner and get, back to me whether or not
the owner wants me to test the water." "As far as I and the Barnstable County feels, there
was no spillage, no release to the groundwater as indicated by the water samples." "Just
to verify this I took one extra step and am in the process of having two abutting wills
sampled.'
Mr. Ball questioned, o you know what the distance is from the abuttrng wells?"
Mr. McQuaid responded, `About 100' ma cirnurn, they are very small lots." I did
notify the D.E.P. but not in a formal report, indicating what was going on at this
property." "In measuring the quantity of the product in this pipe, which was either
intentionally or-accidentally dumped into this well pipe, it was definitely -less thea five
gallons, what we pulled out was less then one gallon, and the D.E.P. reporting limit for
this threshold was five gallons." "It was my feeling not to file a formal report with the
D.E.P. unless by chance one of the two abutting wells showed some contamination
because the well right on site was clean." "At this point the matter is closed.' "I don't
believe we will see anything in those two adjoining property wells." `There was no
discharge to the groundwater."
Catalano stated, "1&. McQuaid has answered the questions I hada' "Based on
the findings, all I request is a copy of theminutes."
Acknowledged.
34 Capvawack Toad
Mr. McQuaid stated, "Jacobs, the engineering firm that the military has been
using sampled the well at 34 Cappavck Road which showed between 21 and 22 p.p.b. of
1 I.T. . .." "My first step was to resample that well and have it analyzed at Barnstable
County which dict confirm 1 I.T.B. : at the level of 16 p.p.b. in the well." "At last week's
meeting I did suggest to the Board that I find out if there are any immediate abutters in
