MINUTES March 13, 1997 4 BOARD OF]HEALTH <br /> IVIS. McDevitt stated, "The Building Inspector said we could actually nail it up <br /> because there is access to get in and out through the kitchen." "I called and asked if it <br /> was possible to block it off so that no one could get hurt by it." <br /> Mr. Evans stated, "I disagree with that." "I am unsure of the legal requirements <br /> however, I will research the natter." `The issue of the hand rail to the second floor has <br /> been resolved." "The matter of the undersized furnace has been taken care of." "I did not <br /> check the temperature at that time but they said it was okay." "Town water was okay." <br /> "water was spilling out from the washer drain while I was there." `The washing machine <br /> was on and pumping water out and it was coming back in." <br /> 11x. Cram questioned, "Since then it has been tested and found to be in failure' " <br /> fir. Evans responded, "Yes." "In regards to yesterday's inspection, I didn't do a <br /> report because there was still problems." "It was noted the handrail to the second floor <br /> was installed and electric heating units have been installed." "The remaining violations <br /> still exist." "The septic system and water hook-up would be accomplished at the same <br /> tine." "Tie slider door and bulkhead door issues have not been abated.' <br /> Mr. McDevitt stated, "I found someone to go out there the day before the last <br /> meeting which was February 2 , 1997." `The night before they agreed to it." "The <br /> morning we went over and gut the stuff from Botelho lumber, I have the slip on that, we <br /> gut to the Home and thea the builder and I could not get in to do it." "The other day nay <br /> husband and I vent over to do it ourselves and were not allowed entrance." "I requested <br /> the tenant to write a letter stating why they would not let us in, he did, and I have it with <br /> e tonight." `we've done everything we can to rectify the situation." "I am only in the <br /> country ten days a month and I don't have the luxury of being home every night." "I'm <br /> trying to let the Board know that it's not that we didn't try to do things but every time we <br /> do, even with a twenty-four hour notice, they stillwon't let us in." <br /> Ms. McDevitt stated, "I have actually been threatened that if I go on their property <br /> I will be arrested." "Now ow eve don't know what to do." <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated, "The Board is aware of this ongoing tenant landlord <br /> situation." "The tenant himself stated before the Board that his primary concern was the <br /> heat upstairs, septic system and water." "The heat has been rectified and the water and <br /> septic is being addressed through the septic repair grant program. That has been <br /> verified by Kendall Ayres who is overseeing the program." `Those were the only two <br /> issues that the tenant was concerned about from the onset."
