a
MEIsTUTES Aril 7, 1997 4 BOARD OF HEALTH
Mr. DiMaggio stated, "Right now we don't charge the town, we charge the people
to dispose of it but the costs will be more for us to do it once the landfill is closed."
"Right now we're not gating paid for fiiture at all." "So this is going to have to be a
contract that states up until July 1, 1998 that furniture is free."
Mr. Sci i ne stated, "The way Mr. DiMaggio is doing it now is a better program."
Mr. DiMaggio stated, "The residents will have to be notified of the change in
policy."
Mr. Ball recommended the Board discuss and new transfer station flyer at the next
regularly scheduled meeting.
II . Sciine stated, " .s for the bid we will work it out so that you get a separate
ponce after the landfill is closed with the cost per ton for disposal of that material so that
you have some bind of a basis far whatever fee you decide to charge." "It is cleaner for
the town if fir. DiMaggio charges the fee and gets rid of the stuff but thea there is not as
much of a clean paper trail if you feel there is a need for that. Also, through a
procurement process it's hard to write up a package that says the contractor will charge
whatever the Board says is okay that he can charge and that he will dispose of it at his
costs." "Therewon't be any money trading hands through the Board of Health to the
contract operator." `You may be able to work it out and just execute a change order if
anything happened." "I think it is very hard to work it out that way■" ;
Mr. I iMaggio stated, "I can talo couple of trucks a 20, 30 and 40 yarder over to
Bourne and see exactly what each one costs then I could tell you how much it is costing
you each week to load them and haul them over there and back."
Scipione stated "The way it will be worded is price per ton for collection and
disposal."
Mr. Iillaggio stated, "Anyone hauling a great amount would be better off hauling
it direct."
Mr. Scipione stated, `.'You may wart to price it high so that the town doesn't get
as much."
Mr. Sci ion stated, "You have a contract with SEMASS that tells you what you
can bring."
