i
Mr. Caffyn stated, "The other thing that I was talking about was when I talked t
the base and I asked there specifically what sites were being tested north of Oak Hollow I
did not get a response from anybody over there that there was any testing being done over
MNUTES October 2 lip 1997 7 BOARDF]HEALTH
there, when it was being done or hasn't been done at all." "Maybe I'm not the right
person to be asking any questions because I'm not getting an answers," "If somebody
could tell me where these sits are because when I talked to the girl who does the testing
in the area of omni public house and stuff like that she couldn't tell me." "I called Doug
Carson, I tried talking to a few other people, I tried talking to I&. Minior and I didn't get
anywhere." "So if you gins can point these locations out and give me some data
information thea I'll believe these things are being done."
Mr. Ball questioned, "Do we have that information?"
Mr. Caffyn stated, "I don't have that information and I tried to get it." "I would
appreciate when it was done last and hove deep the wells are." "For ane, it's a concern if
we- don't have the periphery of our northern borders of the base if some test welling
hasn't been done in those areas to assume that there is nothing there with our past basis
here theseguy s didn't even want to admit that there were plumes there in the first place
is I think, a little naive." "As far as I'm concerned, I think it's a wise thing to do is if you
have a base that's north ofyou that you do the periphery because you have the air strip off
f 130 and you have all the perimeter on 130 ofthe fence that goes all the way along there
that something could have been dumped there." "It may or may not be the ease but
speaking from a conscious twig to know that all these plumes run south that's the way I
look at it."
Mr. McQuaid relayed, "Even though Kevin Burley is required to submit these
samples to the State I will be more than happy to meet you out there next week and draw
samples for v. .c.'s from the wells." `I'll have therm analyzed at the County lab at n
charge just to ease your mind,"
Mr. Caffyn stated, "On another note, I concerned about closing out ancient right-
of-ways and concerned about closing off roads that a lot ofpeople use, a lot of Native
Americans around town use and I like to use without having to have them blocked off
because of illegal dumping." "I would life to possibly sit down with anybody that's
interested on the Board." "I have some ideas on possibly getting some stickers for
volunteers or setting up areas where we can take illegal dump sites, I know we have
procedure for locating these different sites but once we locate there, make a determination
and coming up with a program how to cleanup these areas on a continuous basis because I
found a lot of areas that I've gone to where I seen a reclining couch and a lot of other
