{ NuNUTES September 26, 1996 BOARD of HEALTH Ll BSRq-ESS High School Update Mr. McQuaid stated, "A copy of the lead and copper results indicates that all of the drinl ng fountains have exceeded the copper requirements." "This was faxed over t the high School Building Committee." "They are going to continue flushing and they have bottled water available for Monday."' `when I took Jeff Rose from I .E.P. to the high school on Tuesday to check the water backflow prevention devices i noticed a severe roof leaf outside the principal's office." "Supposedly, back in May they repaired the entire roof.,, "'This leaf was substantial.' "I would guess it was at least ' long and 2' wide covered with plastic at the ceiling yet, the plastic wasn't holding the water the water was dripping down onto the floor." "I couldn't tell whether it was leaking beyond the petition." 4`1 mentioned this to Jim Burn (Clerk ofthe ors) from Chartwell, Steve Greelish and George Costa."" "The other issue is that occuhealth was supposed to have tested all the classrooms in the academic wing and we were supposed to have received a written report by last Friday which we never receive .1' "It turns out, to the best of m knowledge, that the Building Inspector has issued a temporary occupancy permit for the academic wing without asking for my signature." "To the best of gay knowledge the Plumbing Inspector has not signed ofneither has the Electrical Inspector, Gas Inspector or Fire Department.'' "The question is are the children going to move in on Monday?" "I don't know." "As far as the water I am satisfied with the bottled grater." "As far as the roof leaf the hot water in the johns and bubbler's is not a Board of Health issue." Mr. Cram stated, "I believe it could become a health issue as the hot water will ruin the johns."' Mr. McQuaid stated, "I informed the Building Inspector at this point the only Board of Health issue would be the hot atter coming out of the hubbler�' . Provilg bottled water until they can flush and bring the copper down wiR satisfy me." "I informed the Building Inspector it is a building department issue.' "It's your plumbing inspector that has to Ileal with the hot water coming out of the cold water faucets."" "It's you as the building inspector that has to deal with the leafing roof." "Until that leak creates mold it is not a Board of Health issue." '"He said why don't you sent xe 's to certain departments." "I informed hien I would not, it is his call.'" ""He did not do anything about it and the Selectmen know that he didn't do anything about it and he is going on vacation . Monday" '"I Iy feeling is ern Matic unless the Board tells me otherwise." "It's a plumbing code and a building department ar ment problem it is not a Board of Health issue at this point." Board members agreed at this point it is not a Board of Health problem but could potentially become one.
