<br /> and B. Jean - Thomas. Town Counsel available by phone.
<br /> l Motion made by Jean Thomas , seconded by Chester Garland, to accept
<br /> -the minutes of June' 4 , 1980. Chm. Benway declared vote unani ous.
<br /> 2 It appears Ptl. David Aitchison will be resigning as a regular police
<br /> officer due to- an in3ury incurred while on duty. No action at this
<br /> time until 1' r. Aitchison submits -his resignation. Ptl. Aitchison will
<br /> initiate a voluntary disability 'retirement from the Mashpee Police
<br /> through the Bar stable . County Retirement Board.
<br /> James Ames, Mashpee Dog Officer and Edward Enos from the Conservation
<br /> Dept, met with the , Board regarding the Dog Officerls Warrant, Chap. 140 ,
<br /> Sec. 49A, Para. ., which authorizes officer to seek out de-linquent
<br /> dogs. This warrant will be certified by Chm. Benwayand effective
<br /> June 15 , 19800
<br /> Mr. Enos reminded the Board members that the local restraining order
<br /> must -be published ,twice each year in a local newspaper.
<br /> 4 Motion made by Chester Garland not to re-appoint George Trubiano as
<br /> Supt. of Streets for the fiscal year 80/81. Seconded by Sel, Thomas,
<br /> Vote declared unanimous by Chan. Benway.
<br /> 5 lir. George Ryan, Tree Warden, stet with the Board at: their request t
<br /> explain what is being done to control the outbreak of bypsy moths. Mr.
<br /> Ryan brought along a d s c r i pti on of the pesticide he is using which
<br /> contains Sevin. He has been spraying along the roadsides approximately
<br /> 150 ' deep in an effort to control the gypsy moth larvae . The sarin
<br /> effects the , nervous system,, Upon request, Mr. Ryan will spray citizen' s
<br /> lots. The east is then applied to their tax bill. The pesticide will.
<br /> not- harm the gardens , - but it is advised not to eat the vegetables for
<br /> one day after spraying.
<br /> Many concerned citizens responded to the announcement that the Old
<br /> Town Hall -would be razed. Present were Hazel Oakley, Amelia Bingham,
<br /> Janice Mills , Harry Edmed, Hannah Everett,, Kenneth & Selma Coombs ,,
<br /> Jessie white, Delcenia Hendricks , George Green, Jr. Leo Peters , Earl
<br /> Mills , Wm. Matori s, Don & Nancy Blakeman,, Elizabeth Simpson, Frank
<br /> Hicks,, Eli.zabeth' Petti , Gloria Selander, John Peters , Jr. and others.
<br /> Chm. Benway began the discussing by saying the Old Town Hall needed
<br /> extensive renovations , which would be eery costly.
<br /> Resident .present stated that we have no meal place to provide recrea-
<br /> tion for the children in Mashpee. - And how about a Highway Garage -
<br /> ne has been needed for years. How much' would it cost to replace this
<br /> building He would like to see it renovated ' by means of a public-
<br /> spirited action, have members of the community pitch in and perhaps
<br /> get local ' contractors to donate their time and labor.
<br /> ' hm. Benway responded that to replace the building today would pro-
<br /> a cost 'in the range $1,000 ,000 , but State building code
<br /> wouldn' t allow that kind of building to be built today. " He also
<br /> stated -it would take major renovations to adapt it to a highway
<br /> garage to douse truck, equipment, etc. - wouldn ' t be practical.
