` 9/13/80 <br /> I N F o R M A T I O N <br /> 1. Police Chief called 8/7 regarding 3 appointments to Regular <br /> Police officers on 8/6. In accordance with Chapter 41 , <br /> Section 96B of General Laws , they can not assume position <br /> prior to attending school on 9/2/80 . Chief stated that they <br /> will be paid as Regulars effective /6 . <br /> Contacted Town Counsel' s office and asked if they could be <br /> paid the hourly rate as Regulars prior to attending school <br /> on 9/2, and if they were eligible for benefits , BC/BS, etc. <br /> Town Counsel' s office called and furnished the following <br /> in regards to above: P <br /> 1. They should not be on duty as Regular Police Officers , <br /> carrying a gun, unless they have completed school. <br /> Can be appointed prior to attending school. Appointments <br /> on /6 are legal. <br /> . Can be paid as Regulars prior to school but can not <br /> perform duty as such. <br /> fair as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, should contact the <br /> Administrator of BC/BS . <br /> . If the Chief wishes to have them perform duty as <br /> Regulars prior to school, be should request a waiver <br /> from the Mass Criminal Justice Training Center in <br /> Framingham. <br /> 2. Highway Department did not budget for photocopy machine, however, <br /> stated it would cork out of their expense account. <br /> . All departments were notified of the extension to August 13th <br /> for submitting articles. for - Special. <br /> 4. Calls were placed requesting that appointments be picked-up <br /> at Town Clerk' s office. Town Clerk stated that manor responded <br /> to call, <br /> Jane LaBute informed office that Notice will appear in the <br /> Enterprise on 8/15 and Cape Cod Times on 8/17 informing that <br /> names ill be removed from voters ' list. <br />
