<br /> Motion was Ornade by Selectman Thomas , seconded by Selectman Garland,
<br /> to accept the Personnel Board' s recommendation of Joseph Peters , Jr. ,
<br /> as Town Mechanic for the Town of Mashpee. Declared a Grote by
<br /> Chairman.
<br /> Selectman Thomas stated that she would. life the newly appo'inted
<br /> Town Mechanic to meet with department heads , i. e. , Fire Chief and
<br /> Police Chief.
<br /> Chairman requested that . Acting Superintendent of streets be notified
<br /> that the- .Board would lik e to meet with him and Mr. Peter's along
<br /> with the Police Chief and the Fire Chief on Tuesday morning.
<br /> . Motion made by Selectman Thomas ,, seconded by Selectman Garland, to
<br /> accept the minutes of August 20 , 1980. Declared a Grote by Chairman.
<br /> . Chairman announced that on August 28 , 1980 at 8 : 00 p.m. at 'the Town
<br /> Hall,, there 'Will- be a meeting with Dr. Gaines , woods Hole
<br /> Oceanographic Institute , on the Popponesset Bay Farrier Beach,
<br /> commonly ]mown as the "Spit. " He asked for publicity from the
<br /> Press in regards to this meeting and also, that if anyone has any
<br /> knowledge, pictures or anything to contribute to the history of that
<br /> area, that they are welcomed and urged to attend.
<br /> . Chairman' announced that the bid op ping on Popponesset Beach Barrier
<br /> has been -changed to September 5, 1980 , 11. *o o , a.Vin. , in the Selectmen' s

<br /> 8 . Chairman announced that. the Annual Town Cook-out will be on
<br /> September 5 ,, "1980 , : 0. p .m,- at south Cape -Beach, Tickets will be

<br /> . The Board had no objection to Manny Costa's request to hold a party
<br /> with music on 9/l/80 at his home up to the hour of 9 : 00 p. . , as
<br /> long as they were quite'. The Board did state , howrer, that if a
<br /> complaint was received, he would have to shutdown,
<br /> to . Selectman Garland announced to the press that there will be a---

<br /> -_benefit softball. game for the United Cerebal Palsy on Saturday
<br /> afternoon at -1:00 p.m, at Pocknett Field behind, the Old Town Hall.
<br /> It will be a team of the Mashpee Police and Fire Associations` yrs
<br /> a team of -the Boston Firefighters Association. Donations will be
<br /> acceptable.
