f <br /> MINUTES F BOARD OF SELECTMEN' S MEETING <br /> SEPTEMBER lo, 1980 <br /> Present: Chairman George A. Benway, Jr. , Selectmen Chester A. Garland, <br /> B. Jean Thomas and Town Counsel. <br /> 1. Meeting was called to order at 2:10 p.m. by Chairman Benway.. <br /> 2. Chairman announced that he had a conversation referencing the <br /> Po pone set "Spit" and the monies that HUD wade available . The <br /> amount of $7 ,500 - 00is available from HUD to the Town and in <br /> turn , from the Town to woods Hole to initiate and Pay for the <br /> first part of a three part study of the Poonesset Barrier Beach. <br /> . Chairman announced that on September 29 , 1980 , 8 : 30 a.m. - 3 : 30 p.m. <br /> there will be a Proposition 2 Conference at the Park Plaza Hotel <br /> in Boston sponsored by the Mass Educational Conference Board. <br /> . Chairman announced that on September l5 , 1980 at p.m. at the <br /> Town Hall will be a south Cape Beach Advisory Committee Public <br /> Hearing and that the Committee will probably Grote on a recommendation <br /> to the Board -of Selectmen- on the question of South Cape Beach. <br /> The following Monday will be the Special Town Meeting. <br /> He stated that he has spoken to the Moderator in regards to the <br /> Special. The Moderator would like to identify certain spokesmen <br /> from the different groups , different villages or different areas <br /> in the Town who specifically want to speak on South Cape Beach <br /> so that people will not be repeating themselves yet, at the same <br /> time , allowing anyone that wants to speak the opportunity to do so. <br /> 5 . Chairman declared unanimous vote on the appointment of Amelia. Mosley <br /> as Temporary Registrar. <br /> Motion made by selectman Garland, seconded by Selectman Thomas, <br /> to appoint Judith Scott as Dispatcher/secretary to the Police <br /> De artmer t. Declared a vote by Chairman. <br /> . Action on Board of Assessors request to accept all provisions of <br /> Mass Legislative Acts of 1980 , Chapter 416 , section 2 , (Grandfather <br /> Legislation) was not taken at this time. Board' s general feeling <br /> was that if they signed approving this act, they would be locked <br /> in. Chairman requested that the Board of Assessors be notified <br /> that the Selectmen would like to meet with there next Wednesday <br /> to discuss this action. Also requested that they bring along the <br /> "parent legislation" relative to this <br /> Motion made by selectman Garland to accept the conditions of the <br /> Police Contract as verbally presented to this Board by the Personnel <br /> Board. Declared a vote by Chairman, Selectman Thomas abstained <br /> from voting. <br />
