• Administrative`ative Meeting May 4 , 1981 Page 2. 0 Regarding Article #17, ATM, his research has revealed that we cannot 0 borrow to pay our share of $180, 832 for the Cape Cod Regional Technical High school we will have to raise and appropriate , or transfer. Discussion of Articles on Annual Town Meeting warrant proceeded -4- Article #21 Regarding street lights , it now costs the town approximately .$24 , 000 per year. If Article #21 fails , we wi-11 have to look. at that item in the Omnibus Article, and add $5 ,000 to that account for next year. Article #27 - Mr, Garland will move to indefinitely postpone . Article #28 add one word between lines 3 and 4 of that Article : "con- demned" (delete abandoned) . Article # - Jean Thomas had prepared an amendment which was accepted by the other Selectmen, with two changes : delete the word "Department" following Engineering, and replace it with "A count" ; specify that the funds are to create a "Land Use -Map" of the T own. Jean Thomas suggested, and the other agreed, that a Growth study Committee should be formed if this article passes, George Benw y suggested appointing an 'ad-hocCom- mittee after Town Meeting, to work" with -the Planning Board. Mr. Garland asked who would . select the engineer - to do the work if this article is approved, and was told that it would be up to the Planning Board, since it is their account. Rec arding Article #44,, the Exec, secretary reported that he had talked to Frank Hicks, who said there is already a General Law to cover this. How- ever, there are 4 people in this Town who. are doing commercial eeling;to give the Selectmen the authority to regulate only takes a majority vote. But the question .was raised, how will .this affect bodies of eater that Mashpee shares with other towns, who do not have regulations The prob- lem is simply caused by too many people, in time this will be .at critical issue. Regarding the Article on the Middle school Building Construction Fund, which will be indefinitely postponed, the Exec, Sec. informed the Select- men they have the authority to dissolve that Committee , according to Town Counsel. Although they have never submitted- a final report, they stated in their annual report several years ago that they had "completed" their project. Mr, Garland reported that there will he- a representative from the Cape Cod Development organization here to 'speak on that Article. Regarding the Selectmen' s Expense Account in the Omnibus Article , which was reduced by the Finance Committee, all selectmen present felt it was urgent to restore funds to buy a new typewriter and two desk chairs , which will come to approximately $1, 300.
