PARKING TICKETS/PARKING CLERK
As of this writing, ie i s l a ive action is still pending on the
bill to amend the parking regulation statutes.
Already passed is legislation giving the electmen the authority
to appoint a parking clerk to serve until June 1 , 1982. At our Special
Town Meeting in the Spring, we will need to put on the warrant the
acceptance of either 20A or A3, depending upon what happens in the
State House.
In the interim, there are a couple of steps that can be . taken.
Jane LaBute has reviewed all the material I have accumulated regarding
this subject, and feels that she is willing to be the Parking Clerk.
once the legislation is clarified, I recommend that Jane be appointed*
'd like to see the final version before this is done, just in ease there:_
are any surprises.
Chief Frye estimates we issue about 50 parking tickets per year.
There are ars unknown number of unprocessed parking tickets in Falmouth
that were recovered from the Court House, These tickets .include some
from Sandwich and Mashpee. Selectman Eugene Carr of Sandwich has asked
whether the Board is interested in contracting with a firm to process
these uncollected tickets at a cost of of what is collected. I
recommend it, -since we cannot afford to send someone to pick through
all of the tickets looking for Mashpee tickets. Essentials , is
better than• nothing.
I have reviewed the proposals of service bureaus interested in
handling the administrative work associated with parking tickets , and
ill continue to do so. .
For the work involved, I recommend that we get a service bureau
and toward that end, I will continue to get information on this ,
