i <br /> Ilat <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING. <br /> October 26 , 1983 <br /> PRESENT: Chairman Chester A. Garland, Selectman. Willard L. Hanson and <br /> Selectman lei chard L. Terry, Town Counsel Joseph J. Reardon and <br /> Executive Secretary s F. Murphy. <br /> GUESTS : Nis. Jane Peterson, Mr-. Re, Mrs, B. Jean Thomas ,, Mr, Vernon Thomas, <br /> Police Chief Curtis Frye, Fire Chief Edward Martin, Mr. Tracy Pratt <br /> and Mr. George Morrison. <br /> Chairman Garland convened the Selectmen' s meeting of October 26 , l9 3 at <br /> 6 : 00 p.m. <br /> Motion by Sel. Manson and seconded by Sel. Torry to approve the minutes <br /> of October 19, 1983 as written, Motion Carried. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS : <br /> 6 :00 p.m, - Mr. Samuel Re, Chairman of the Public Works Committee , came <br /> before the Board to give the Committees final report and t <br /> discuss the need for a new facility. Mr. Re also asked the <br /> Board to allow the Committee to continue doing research on <br /> the cost of running the present- facility and what it would <br /> cost the town in interest on a new facility, He stated that <br /> the Committee would be considered active but inactive for <br /> a while. The Board thanked Mr. Re, and agreed with his <br /> suggestion. Report attached to minutes. ) <br /> 6 :15 p.m. - Mr. George E. Morrison came before the Board with a plan <br /> and a problem relative to land that he owns and would like <br /> to build a house on. Chm. Garland referred the matter to <br /> Sol. Terry, Mr. Morrison explained that the property is on <br /> the corner of Gtuit and Sandwich Road. He also stated <br /> that the problem is that the zoning is presently commercial <br /> and, he would like to have it rezoned residential. Mr. Morrison <br /> said that he had cone to the Board of Appeals but that they <br /> said they could not do anything and referred him to the Selectmen. <br /> Sel. Terry tried to explain with the Executive e Secretary that <br /> this could probably be included in the warrant for town meeting. <br /> Sel. T rry asked Mr. Morrison for his telephone number and <br /> said that he would be contacting hire to see if he can help <br /> him with this matter as there are problems, Sel. Terror also <br /> told Mr. Morrison that he needs- a more specific plan with <br /> a better description of the land. <br /> 6 : 30 p.m. Chm. Garland convened the public hearing on New England Telephone' s <br /> petition 83-64 for proposed placement of two poles and there- <br /> moval of one polo on the northerly side of Route 28 . Ghon. <br /> Garland asked if there were any opponents. None. Motion by <br /> Sel, Danson to accept the petition as printed. Seconded by <br /> Sel, Terry. Motion Carried. <br /> 6 : 45 p.m. - Fire Chief Edward Hartin was in to inform the Selectmen o <br /> his proposals for the Capital Program Committee budget for <br /> Fiscal 85 and beyond. Chief Martin said that he was jus' t <br /> informing the Selectmen of these proposal for their comments <br />
