BOARD of SELECTMEN MEETING <br /> December 28, 1983 <br /> PRESENT: Chairman Chester A. Garland, Selectmen Willard L. Hanson and <br /> Richard L. Terry, <br /> GUESTS: Mr. and Mrs . Vernon Thomas. <br /> p.m* -- Chairman Garland convened the Selectmen' s meeting of December <br /> 28, 1983 at p.M9 <br /> Motion by Sel, Hanson to approve the minutes of the December' 21, 1983 <br /> Regular Meeting. seconded by .sed.. Terry. Motion Carried. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS : <br /> p.m. - Chnn. Garland explained that the tax classification hearing <br /> had to be postponed for tonight and rescheduled as the <br /> firm of McGee .-.and M c ne1 are having trouble with their com- <br /> puter and cannot furnish the Assessors with the figures that <br /> are- needed. <br /> OLD BUSINESS :- <br /> 1. ) <br /> USINE1. Board discussed the termination. of Sergea.nt Gonsalves. Chan. Garland <br /> stated that Town Counsel had drafted a letter that- would be sent to <br /> Sgt. Gonsalves, Sel. Hanson questioned why Town Counsel had included <br /> in the .letter that the hearing loss was not -job related. Chm. Garland <br /> and Sel. Terry felt that up to cyte there was no- evidence to prove <br /> that it was job- related. sel. Terry 'said that the question was whether <br /> to terminate. Sgt ,. Gonsalves or to defer - this matter -again until anot . ' <br /> letter from Dr. vandemoer 4wa - received,,' Sel. Terry stated that he was <br /> comfortable at this time to agree with Town Counsel.. Chin. Garland <br /> stated that he is not an attorney but started that this letter that is <br /> to be sent to -Sgt. Gonsailvs was . drafted by Town Counsel and he trusts <br /> his opinion. <br /> Motion by sel. Terry to- have. Town Counsel ' s letter of December 28, 198 <br /> regarding the termination of sergeant Gonsalves as of Midnight, December- <br /> 81, 1983 be sent to Sgt. Gonsalves. Seconded by Chm. Garland. Motion <br /> Carried. sel. Hanson abstained. <br /> . On the liquor regulations submitted by Joseph Murphy, Executive Secretary, <br /> for the hoards review!-Sel. Hanson as] d that the words "with written <br /> notification" -be included in section 1,A and the -month of "December" be <br /> included in l.B. Motion by Sel, ' Terry to approve the amendments. Seconded <br /> by Sel. Hanson. Lotion Carried. Motion y Sel, Terry to approve the <br /> new liquor regulations with the amendments. Seconded by Sel, Hanson. <br /> Motion Carried. <br /> . n the communication from Mr. Harold Cohen to Mr. Hollander Chin. . Garland <br /> said that he spoke to Mr. Collins and there is no need for engineering <br /> as Mr. Collins has several sources at no cost that will determine the <br /> .mean low tide. Char. Garland also stated that Mr. Cohen' s dock is <br /> twelve feet further out than it should -be,, <br /> . Motion by Sel. Hanson to include the article on the hazardous waste <br />
