J" <br /> Vic. <br /> i <br /> 5- <br /> - BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> i <br /> ADMINISTRATIVE MEETING <br /> October 15 , 1984 <br /> Meeting convened t 8 :20 a.m, <br /> Present were : Chairman Willard L. Hanson, Selectman Richard L, Terry, <br /> Selectman B. Jean:.-.Thom-as, Middleton O'Malley Keyes,, De ane <br /> Beggs of 3 Rive'rRoad, Mashpee, Rill Bryant of Fein Lane, <br /> Mashpee, Monica McNally and. Executive Secretary, Joseph <br /> F, Murphy, <br /> Mr. Middleton -O'Malley Keyes reviewed with the Board his 'activities <br /> since he was appointed shellfish officer. He explained that by and large <br /> the Mashpee Shellfish regulations are working and said that many of the <br /> complaints stem from the comments such as, "i f Falmouth can do it why can' t <br /> well , He said that Mashpee ' s policies should not be based upon Falmouth' s. <br /> . <br /> He related that enforcement is an issue and that he. is attempting to <br /> find someone who is available and has the time to enforce regulations in <br /> opponesset Bay. He would very much like to have an armed p lice-t-officer <br /> available so that when he calls the police,..department- and needed an officer, <br /> one would be available to assist him in -enforcement <br /> Additionally, he would work with Executive Secretary to prepare a <br /> mechanism so that non-1 udicial tickets can be used for- enfor ement. <br /> Mr. Keyes said that he , would be contacting grant holders to discuss <br /> with there operation of their grants and their plans. He opposed issuance <br /> f new grants. <br /> He related that he would have an article for the special town meeting <br /> to buy smaller boats as per his report to the Selectmen of October 3, 1984 . <br /> He- explained that he is reviewing the permit - system and would be <br /> making recommendations to Selectmen and that one recommen atio'n might ht be <br /> to eliminate all non-resident shel.lfishing in Mhpee. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 9 : 20 a.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Muriel McGrath <br /> Administrative Secretary <br /> i <br />
