Garland said that she should take -another look at the one sticker <br /> per family co mendation -that she is proposing. <br /> 2. } Executive e:cretar l explaine that. the. Garland said he- wanted to point out some of the i nah-. <br /> cial problems the veterans Services .are having. He. stated that the <br /> staff has been -grossly underpaid for some . time now and that : he_..T wn" of <br /> Barnstable. .is no., longer- givin them }free-rent. They have to pay <br /> $5, 000 for rent -to the- town of Barnstable this year. They also have <br /> to pay Barnstable for the telephone use, this i the use of the <br /> switchboard. All these are extra ordinary increases. <br /> . Board reviewed the memorandum from Police Chief Frye regarding res- <br /> cinding the appointment- of five special police officers . Executive <br /> Secretary said. that the Chief thought it cost money to keep these <br /> individuals if they were appointed.. He explained t . -the Chief that <br /> they only get, paid when they are assigned duty. Chief- Frye wi11 not <br /> assign these individuals until June 30, 1984 and the Selectmen will <br /> not reappoint -them. This will serve the same purpose. <br /> i Board reviewed the apportioned figures for the Town of Mashpee from <br /> the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School District. Executive <br /> Secretary said that there- is a increase this year, this shows <br /> a $10-, 744 . increase, He also explained that the cost for technical <br /> schools is more because of the equipment cost they have. <br /> . on the letter from S61ectmen Rauschenbach of Brewster regarding <br /> acid rain the Board decided to refer this to the Conservation <br /> Commission. <br /> At this point in the meeting Sel. Terry said; that Town Counsel wanted <br /> to make some re.commendations to- the Board regarding Dick & Ellie' s <br /> flea market application., <br /> Town Counsel said that where a formal request had been submitted, he <br /> recommends the Board act on it. Where the application was pro.perl.y. <br /> filed Town, counsel recommends the Board denies the application. He <br /> suggest both Attorney Sweeney and the Ta i l' s be sent a reply. Town <br /> Counsel said the Board should deny the application because use is not- <br /> allowed in .town zoning by-laws. Chat, Garland said to disregard the <br /> previous comments made at the beginning of- old business. <br /> Motion by S e l. Terry to deny -Attorney Sweeney' s and the Was i l' s request <br /> without prejudice pending the outcome of the special town meeting for <br /> the fact that zoning, as it stands today, does not provide for such <br /> use.
