zr <br /> BARD OF SELETEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> ADMINISTRATIVE MEETING <br /> TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5. IB <br /> PRESENT: Selectman Terry , Selectman Thomas and Executive Secretary Joseph F. Murphy <br /> i . <br /> GUESTS : Monica cNa l l y <br /> 8:00 a.m. - Selectmen met with Mr. John Fassett who explained to the Board that he is <br /> degreed engineer working for CBS news, Last year he was contacted by <br /> New Seabury relative to putting in a privately owned TV system, fir. Fassett <br /> explained that a CATV plant consists of two steps, a cost -of which is <br /> two million dollars. <br /> STEP 1 -- Mead End which consists of a piece of property large enough t <br /> support a structure about the size of the Selectmen' s office, <br /> tower about 3 -500 feet and satellite dishes' . <br /> STEP 2 - Distribution Center which is cables amplifiers and splitters. <br /> i <br /> Mr. Fassett pointed o-ut that the expense of this system is not justified <br /> economica I ly for a village the size o f New seabury to undergo and there- <br /> fore would like to be able to work a deal with New Seabury to install the <br /> Head End and sell TV programming to the Town. <br /> Selectman Thomas asked if a hearing is required for this. <br /> Mr. Fassett felt the townspeople should have a vote on this as It would <br /> certainly involve them. <br /> Both Selectmen Terry and Thomas were in favor of pursuing this further, <br /> Selectman Thomas asked Mr. Fassett to submit a cost estimate. <br /> Mfr. Fassett stated he would be happy to present a cost estimate but would <br /> need demographic data to complete this estimate. <br /> Mr. Murphy will notify [fir. Fudakla that John Fassett will be contacting <br /> him for demographic data. <br /> Mr. Murphy advised the Board that he would be submitting an article to create a Town Hall <br /> Building Needs Committee. <br /> Selectman Thomas pointed out the number of- building committees that have already been <br /> established. <br /> Mr. Murphy felt that this would explain the growth of the 'Town. He also advised the <br /> Board that there will be another article for architectural engineering work for an <br /> addition to the Police Building-, <br /> [sir. Fudala asked who would be on the committee and suggested maybe a department head to <br /> represent the town hall . <br /> 1 <br />
