Palmer Associates
. FINANCIAL SERVICES MARKETING CONSULTANTS 1
MAR 2 0 1985
March 19, 1985
Board of Selectmen
Town of Mashpee
Mashpee, MA 02649
Dear Selectmen,
It is our understanding you are being asked to consider
a request by RICK KUUSELA of Monomoy to establish 60 rafts
for oyster propagation on his Waquoit Bay eastern shore grant
which is opposite our Seconsett Island property. We have
been asked to comment.
We are not opposed to this request, but we are concerned
that it be granted under conditions, if possible, that are
responsive to the concerns of other Bay residents, including
ourselves.
These concerns might include :
o Appearance - Mr. Kuusela indicated last year
that his raft would henceforth be below the water
on the bottom. Will they?
o Boat traffic interference - how will passage be
affected?
o Water access from the beach - What happens here?
o Scallop gathering impact - What is it?
Fundamentally, we believe Mr. Kuusela ' s activities,
properly managed, can make a significant contribution to the
future aquaculture of the Waquoit Bay estuarine system. We
have been impressed by his past willingness to accomodate the
interests of others.
It is our hope and request that the interests of other
Bay residents , ourselves, Mr. Kuusela and the future of our
delicate estuarine system can be served by your administration
of this issue.
•
STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION
50 EAST 89TH STREET.SUITE 32C•NEW YORK NEW YORK 10128 X21216641989
