1 <br /> BOARD l SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21, 198 <br /> Present: Selectman Terry, Selectman Thomas, Selectman Hanson, Executive Secretary, <br /> Joseph Murphy Militarry heave <br /> Guests: Charlette Bryan, Maureen McKay,ay, Delores Dong, Ernie Virgilio, Monica <br /> McNally-Hough, Susan Chap i, A. Gere Narr, Vernon Thomas <br /> 7 p.m.-Selectman Terry convened the meeting of August 21 , 1985. <br /> SelecLman Terry announced that before they would start the regular meeting a press <br /> conference would be held to announce 'the application for a self-help grant to <br /> purchase 250 acre panel of lana along the Mashpee River for a recreational area <br /> open to all citizens of Mashpee. <br /> Selectman Terry thanked the Board of Selectmen, Town Planner, .Joel Lerner, Bill <br /> McKay,ay, Joanne Ferragamo, Jack l r1 and the Mashpee Conservation Commission. <br /> Appointments & Hearings <br /> 7:30 - Mr. Vernon Thomas, Chairman of the Shellfish Commission was in to report to <br /> the Selectmen the outcome of the public input meeting held by the Shellfish Commission. <br /> Mr. Thomas explained that it was decided that the Constable and Harbormaster would <br /> be seperate positions with the deputies to serve under both. He also staLed that <br /> the Commission will submit an article for the Shellfish Constable position- to become <br /> full-time. Further, they asked that Vernon be appointed as an interim Shellfish <br /> Constable upon review of town counsel due to the fact he is collecting disability <br /> from the town. <br /> Selectman Thomas asked if anyone else submitted a name to serve. Mr. Thomas pinntd <br /> out than Vernon Johnson has. <br /> Board took this under advisement to allow time for tern counsels opinion, <br /> Old Business <br /> 1. Reverend 'esti of Christ the Ding Parish requested a permit to serge alcoholic <br /> beverage at an adult dance on August 24, 1985 from 8 p.m, to midnight. <br /> Selectmen were ireformed by R6verend Tosti _that there will be a police officer on <br /> duty the entire evening. <br /> 2. Selectmen received communication from the Fire Chief regarding Dom stice Water <br /> Supply for the fire station. <br /> Selectman asked that this matter be pint on hold. <br /> . Selectmen received communication from Ellis Laycock to Triple A Engineering <br /> demanding action regarding resolution to completion of the Mashpee Public Works <br /> Facility. <br /> John Maurer was in requesting direct payment of an Outstanding bill of 12,3 , D, <br /> Selectmen asked that all communications be sent to Town Counsel . <br /> { <br />
