1 <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1985 <br /> Present: Selectman Terry, Selectmen Thomas, Selectman Hanson and Executive <br /> Secretary, Joseph F. Murphy <br /> Guests: John Ferguson, Hobert deLory, Carol Costa-Crowell , Monica McNally, <br /> Wendy Rubin and Chief Frye <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> 7;00 - The Board had asked the Municipal Building Needs Cbmmittee to attend so <br /> they c6uld receive their "charge" from the Selectmen. <br /> Mr. Murphy explained that three individuals have expressed interest in <br /> serving on this committee and they should be appointed before the Board <br /> gent any further. <br /> Selectman Thomas moved to appoint John Ferguson, Curtis Frye and Frederic. <br /> Jordan to the Municipal Building Needs Committee. Selectman Danson seconded. <br /> All were in favor. Selectman Manson appointed John Ferguson as chairman <br /> pro-tem for the purpose of calling the: fin 'Meeting. <br /> Selectmen outlined the reasons for this committee stating they would be <br /> i looking into the need for rennovations or new town hall , expansion of <br /> the police station, council on aging and recreation department needs. <br /> 7:15 Selectmen ret, with Wendy Dubin who had requested time with the Board to <br /> answer any questions the Board may have relative to her articles. <br /> Being no Old Business Selectmen roved onto New Business. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1 Selectman Thomas mored- to appoint Laney E. Drake a -Board Secretary as per <br /> the recommendation of the Personnel Board. Selectman Hanson seconded. All <br /> were in favor. <br /> 2 Selectmen received a memo trom the Director of Paris & Recreation relative <br /> to Youth Commission vacancies. The Director requested Selectmen post the <br /> vacancies. Ms. Dubin was advised that the positions will be advertised in <br /> the Falmouth Enterprise on Friday, October 4 along with other vacancies <br /> that exist. <br /> The Board reviewed several articles submitted by the Fire Chief, Town Planner, <br /> DPW Director, Inland/Coastal Waterways Commission. Selectmen agreed to include <br /> allthe articles except for the first two of the Fire Chief ' s relative to new <br /> personnel . Selectmen asked that the Chief attend next week' s meeting for <br /> further discussion of these articles. <br /> Selectmen received a letter from march duP nt resigning as chairman of the <br /> Arts Council. Selectmen deferred action until later at which time they <br /> hoped to discuss this with her as the letter is unclear as to whether she <br /> is resigning just as chairman or resigning from the council. <br />
