r <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1985 <br /> Present: Selectman Terry, Selectman Thomas, Selectman Hanson and Executive <br /> Secretary , Joseph Murphy <br /> Guests: Vern Polka, Chief Hartin, Chief Frye, Deputy Cooper, Ernie Virgilio,. <br /> Monica McNally, ar€(l. Costa-Crowell , Sheldon Hamblin, Jahn Umina, <br /> Attorney John Creney, Richard Cook, Don Patchin, Arthur Boet6i, <br /> Tom Fudala, Vernon Thomas, Richard Kuusela, Dale Hope, Howland Evora <br /> Selectman Terry convened the meeting of October 9, 1985 at 7 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> selectman Thomas moved to approve the minutes of October 2, 1985 regular meeting. <br /> Selectman Hansom seconded. All were in favor. <br /> ppointments & Hearings <br /> 7:00 - Selectmen had requested Chief Hartin to attend' to discuss his articles <br /> submitted for the December 2 special town meeting. Chief Hartin explained <br /> the first two articles were for the hiring and equiping two firefighters as <br /> well as a Deputy Fire Chief. These positions are part of the staffing plan of <br /> years ago. <br /> Selectman Terry asked why this could not wait until the annual town meeting. <br /> Chief Hartin stated he has been trying to increase his staff for 2 years now <br /> and has been postponing the article for lack of funds. <br /> Selectman Thomas asked what his priority would be. Chief Hartin said both were <br /> a high priority but if had to choose the Firefighter' s would be first since <br /> this is pant of the plan of 2 years age. <br /> Chief Hartin further explained that the fourth article he has submitted was for <br /> maintenance and repair to the fire station and equipment. Also submitted by the <br /> Chief was an article Lo amend the by-laws relative to the Capital Program Committee. <br /> Selectmen agreed to include his' articles in the warrant. <br /> 7:30 - Mr, John Amina requested time with the Board to discuss paving a portion <br /> of Mingo load. Attorney John Creney repre-sentative for Mr.- Umina explained <br /> that the Board of Appeals have approved a special permit for a cluster sub- <br /> division on property that sits on William dingo Road. MY. Creney submitted <br /> drawings showing the sub--division and layout of the roadway as well as the area <br /> proposed to pave. <br /> Selectman Thomas asked the Town Planner for his thoughts on this. Mr. Fudal <br /> explained he felt they should consult with the Mr%7nRdw.1-&ysand Town Counsel as <br /> the Town has rights to travel wags that exist. He further stated his concerns <br /> with the Town setting a precedent allowing a way6tht does not have status of <br /> access. <br /> Selectmen took this under advisement until they meet with the Planning Board and <br /> Town Counsel . <br />
