f Board of Selectmen Tuesday, July 29 , 1986 d inistrati e.., Meeting_ Present: Selectman Thomas , Selectman Hanson, Selectman Lawrence and Executive Secretary, Joseph Murphy Guests : Charles Stone, Richard Martini, Chief Hartin., Mark Lopez, Carol Costa-Crowell Mr. Murphy pointed out the first order of business .}was to discuss grievance filed by Firefighter Lopez. Selectman Thomas moved t go into executive session t discuss a grievance. Selectman Lawrence seconded* A11 were in favor. Selectman Thomas announced that the regular session add .reconvene at a.m. The Board discussed with Chief Hartin his memo xe ati e �to maintenance expense. The Chief is looking for $3 ,000 -for the `ire Apparatus Equipment Maintenance & Repair Account due t ma or breakdowns in equipment. Also the Hurst Tool Cutters have been recalled by the distributor and to replace will cost approximately another $1 ,00-0 . Selectman Thomas felt that next budget year we should look at an emergency equipment repair account. The Board also discussed with the Chief the Deputy Chief ' s vehicle . Selectman Lawrence asked the Chief to explain hoer the lease agree- ment came about. Chief Hartin explained that last budget year he pint a line Ltem in his budget, in lieu of guidelines a to whether or not this was improper. The Finance Committee approved as well as town meeting approval . Selectman Lawrence asked why it was needed Chl f Hartin explained that he and the Deputy Chief are on call twenty-four hours and to provide the Deputy with a vehicle would allow the duty shifts .to have arp'le vehiclese Selectman asked what the total cost to the town would be. Chief Hartin was unable to answer the question. The Board requested Chief Hartin to come back with a. complete package as to exactly what he is getting and for how uch. Selectman Thomas would like to know if the Finance ori ttee is in favor of leasing or would prefer outright purchasing.
