Personnel. Board <br /> Minutes of October 3 ,. 1983 Pace <br /> Treasurer ' s officer - Request for Temp. Help <br /> The Board reviewed a memo from the Treasurer advising then that <br /> B, Jean Thomas has been hired to work temporarily in that office <br /> since mid-September and is being paid at the rate of $4 .02 per <br /> hour. <br /> Danny suggested that a memo be sent to the Treasurer outlinin' g'.-'.the <br /> Policy for hiring of temporary help. All Board members were in <br /> agreement . <br /> Request to WE!iye Probationary Period <br /> The Personnel Board, at the request of the Executive Secretary, <br /> was asked to review a request from Police Officer Gerald Umina for <br /> a waiver of the probationary -period for education purposes as well <br /> as dor other benefits . r . Umina attached a document which showed <br /> that he has 23 months of 'retirement time built up through working <br /> t the Police Department since 1979 as a Lepe ial Police Officer . <br /> The Board also reviewed a letter from Chief• Frye to the Executive <br /> Secretary dated September 191 recommending that the Board of Select- <br /> men not consider waiving the twelve-month probationary period as <br /> requested. r <br /> Y <br /> It was the feeling of the Personnel Board that policy already es- <br /> tablished <br /> -- <br /> ablfished in the department must- be followed and that a precedent <br /> rust not be set for the future. Therefore , waiver of the probation- <br /> ary period was not recommended. <br /> i <br /> The Board also reviewed a verbal request from officer [.mina that <br /> vacation time be allowed tc. be used before it- is earned. The Board <br /> did -not recommend that this be granted either , <br /> Firefighter Job Description <br /> The Board members were given copies of the job description for the <br /> firefighter EMT-A and Firefi h er - EMT-P position. They were also <br /> given ars outline of what the written examination , physical skills <br /> tests - and driver ' s test entailed . The interviews for those candid- <br /> ates passing the testing will be conducted for the career positions <br /> on October 24 . <br /> Resignation of Robert Sanders <br /> Discussion was rade on the resignation of Robert sanders from his <br /> position as NRo/Dog Officer . The Board members felt that it is part <br /> of their job to know -what the reason was for someone resigning . <br /> Resignation of Public Works se -re ar <br /> Susan Buehler- has resigned as secretary to the Public Works Committee <br /> as she is relocating to the New Hampshire area. The Puh-lic Works <br /> Committee is in need of another Board secretary on a temporary basis . <br />
