Personnel. Board Minutes of October 3 ,. 1983 Pace Treasurer ' s officer - Request for Temp. Help The Board reviewed a memo from the Treasurer advising then that B, Jean Thomas has been hired to work temporarily in that office since mid-September and is being paid at the rate of $4 .02 per hour. Danny suggested that a memo be sent to the Treasurer outlinin' g'.-'.the Policy for hiring of temporary help. All Board members were in agreement . Request to WE!iye Probationary Period The Personnel Board, at the request of the Executive Secretary, was asked to review a request from Police Officer Gerald Umina for a waiver of the probationary -period for education purposes as well as dor other benefits . r . Umina attached a document which showed that he has 23 months of 'retirement time built up through working t the Police Department since 1979 as a Lepe ial Police Officer . The Board also reviewed a letter from Chief• Frye to the Executive Secretary dated September 191 recommending that the Board of Select- men not consider waiving the twelve-month probationary period as requested. r Y It was the feeling of the Personnel Board that policy already es- tablished -- ablfished in the department must- be followed and that a precedent rust not be set for the future. Therefore , waiver of the probation- ary period was not recommended. i The Board also reviewed a verbal request from officer [.mina that vacation time be allowed tc. be used before it- is earned. The Board did -not recommend that this be granted either , Firefighter Job Description The Board members were given copies of the job description for the firefighter EMT-A and Firefi h er - EMT-P position. They were also given ars outline of what the written examination , physical skills tests - and driver ' s test entailed . The interviews for those candid- ates passing the testing will be conducted for the career positions on October 24 . Resignation of Robert Sanders Discussion was rade on the resignation of Robert sanders from his position as NRo/Dog Officer . The Board members felt that it is part of their job to know -what the reason was for someone resigning . Resignation of Public Works se -re ar Susan Buehler- has resigned as secretary to the Public Works Committee as she is relocating to the New Hampshire area. The Puh-lic Works Committee is in need of another Board secretary on a temporary basis .
